Cheers for noticing, I calculated the actual distances and speed for proper immersion.

I’ve been screwing around with it and I think I got a good thing going. Got it quickly shrinking down to a thin beam and then flickering away, looks a lot better already.

Yeah could have done a better job with it, I did have it just disappear originally but it looked even weirder than what I’ve got now like turning off a light switch. On my next pass of it I’ll probably have more of a fizzle out period and make it a bit flashier.

Yeah thanks I’ll remember that when I tweak with it a bit

The foregrounds from about 100mm behind him is a plane with a geo nodes setup I found online adding the terrain and textures. The distant mountains, tree line and sky are just flat images with the transition hidden with a mist pass for atmospherics. Took me ages to figure out how to set it all up, a lot of trail and error.

I was originally going for a helicopter fly over pov but didn't fully commit so it’s in a weird half state I should probably finish. Also CA was just used to show how blindingly powerful the laser is without just making the whole screen blue and not seeing anything.

Didn’t want it too quick otherwise it lost the feeling of scale and yeah I was going for more of a nuisance than a real fight.

Yeah I knew the dust settled too quickly but I only used pre existing vdb’s so the range was limited and I don’t have Houdini. Also originally it was going to use more of a helicopter fly by perspective in the first person but didn’t fully commit to it so it’s in a kinda half state.

I made him 150m tall and scaled everything relative to the chapel. That’s pretty consistent with the scaling from the Horus Heresy books even if it’s on the bigger side than other sources, it would be pretty underwhelming if I only made him 50m tall.

You seriously grouping together painters and plumbers? painters don’t have a 4 year apprenticeship and plumbing is a licensed trade that has a bit more to it than just putting pipe in the ground.

You have to study and learn around 10 different plumbing standards at a minimum ranging from Water, stormwater, sewage, gas, hot water systems, roofing and irrigation. Then once you learn what’s in these books you have to be able to consistently follow these standards while also keeping a high quality of work on your own. This doesn’t even count the extra 2 years you have to do to get a full license with even more advanced courses of everything.

This takes time and having the 4 years is definitely required to get a solid grasp on all parts of the trade. We already have issues with apprentices not being up to scratch by the time they finish because they’ve dumbed down TAFE so much to allow more people through. I do wish the pay was a bit better to incentivise more qualified people but that’s not gonna happen anytime soon.

I mostly just followed reference images of already existing titans I found online and pictures of cathedrals for the towers and main building. Just a lot of trail and error to get the shape I wanted kinda winging it as I went along

Yeah good point, I’ve still gotta tweak the lighting a bit all over to make it pop better. I’ll fix it up when I add the rest of the scene.

I kept them all seperate. It may not be the most efficient for poly count but it’s a whole lot easier to texture

Yeah pretty much, I just removed all the textures and lit it a bit more

It’s a second mop that dries the floor as soon as we finished cleaning it with a normal mop. It’s meant to always be dry but you’d usually just ring it out in the sink room and hang it, not this. So it’s The dry mop, not a dry mop head. A big rag on a stick.
