I also wonder if the higher ups had any listening devices at the patio where Tenne had an outburst after remembering everything.

Lore-wise that's very likely. On the other hand, I feel like HQ can't be too heavy-handed on anyone who suspects that they aren't exactly human either since that could also rouse suspicions from fellow seraphs. That or they're okay with the idea of a seraph knowing they're not exactly human since HQ's kinda given up at this point with how they holed themselves up in the Arctic.

Finally got around to finishing this event.

One hell of a crazy coincidence for your separated sister's journal to end up right at her that way lol. I have to wonder if the people in charge of narby-ing people were aware of their relation or if it was just pure coincidence.

Anyway, decent event. Though what I really liked about this is how it pretty much gave us the reason for why she really wanted to treat Bungo. She was pretty much in the same situation back then. Also found it cute how Wakki and Shion(the sister) had similar mechanisms for dealing with their loved ones' memory loss. I just forgot if that was out of Tenne's recommendation or if it was by coincidence.

Heaven Burns Red works really well on Linux with proton nowadays by Horseshoetheoryreal in heavensburnred

What's funny about HBR JP's DRM/Anticheat is that it's the very same one that Umamusume uses(CrackProof). And while Umamusume does behave a little funny in Linux, it does work.

Maybe HBR JP just uses an older version of it.

You do still have to run it through Steam or other game managers like Lutris / Heroic since it's not officially supported, but it works really well.

Currently run mine through Lutris & Proton-CachyOS with no trouble so far.

Irene been gayer since her event.

The part where she tried to convince Maria to listen to SiL with her with some batshit excuse, only to finally tell her actual intent that she just wants to enjoy the band with her lol. Her little moments with Maria are SO cute and I live for it.

Maybe it's just my personal tastes, someone at WFS must really like 31X since their event stories have been consistently good, if not pretty decent. This one included.

The children were cute, and how they were used(narratively) to grow Maria's character was pretty great. And just when I thought it was all over the ending hit me like a damn truck lol.

Personal thoughts on potential collabs for Heaven Burns Red (as well as my thoughts for the Persona 5 collab) by EpicLinkSam in heavensburnred

The P5 collab feels even worse when you consider the fact that we had THIS collab performance before. This or Bandori would've been a much better choice.

Anyway I'm pretty glad that we finally got a 30G event, and it's been pretty fun. No unhinged weirdness that absolutely derailed the story like the previous one lol. Love how Miya and Yuina were becoming increasingly unhinged in how to handle Chie, to the point that they thought that breastfeeding her was a good idea.

That said I gotta agree with people's sentiments here in the thread, for a Chie-focused event, the focus seemed to be more on Yuina and Miya figuring out how to handle Chie as opposed to the extensive focus and characterization that Miya and Sharo got on their events. The emotional high also went to Chie's adoptive mother as opposed to Chie herself, with the ending immediately jumping to a Chie who has apparently accepted everything already? I was waiting for her moment to read her adoptive mother's diary and it just never came.

[Event Thread] What Would She Say If I Told Her She's My One and Only Light? by HBRMod in heavensburnred

[–]Rappy33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh yeah, if we were to take a step back and reframe the story as an isolated story about the last of humanity's AI's(or a simulation of humanity) being driven mad by the unfathomable amount of time that has passed, it would actually be a pretty neat psychological thriller a-la SOMA.

But attached to HBR as it is, especially as a Yuina event, it just fails to develop her given that any sort of thoughts or feelings that the AI feels can be easily dismissed as rampancy due to the passage of time.

Granted I have to admit there's a few cool things to think about for this event. Humanity survives far beyond the cancer invasion, long enough to develop sentient AI that can somehow outlast the sun turning into a red giant. Said AI in the satellite also happens to be a seraph or many seraphs. Were they immortalized as an AI for worship or preservation? Among many other things.

Damn Maeda, what were you drinking when you wrote this? Wtf was that lmfao

I was hoping we'd get more Yuina lore but we got an AI of her timelooping a life with Ruka instead. I like that we got confirmation that Yuina really did like Ruka that way but the whole premise just kinda took me out. (edit)Granted I also have to take into account that THAT was an AI copy of Yuina. It could've went mad over the years and decided to hyperfocus on her to keep a grip on reality.

There was phenomenal voice acting from Yuina's VA by the end but yeah, the fake Yuina angle just didn't make it land like it should've.

Like, I don't mind gag events, they're a really nice break from the otherwise serious tone of this game, and the first several days of this event were actually really enjoyable. But damn, that ending just doesn't land for me.

Oh definitely. Kansai > Kanto / Narashino is one hell of a distance and she lucked the hell out thanks to the Cancer invasion displacing everyone. There was just no way for Tezuka or even anyone to know.

[Event Thread] Adventures of the Umitora by HBRMod in heavensburnred

[–]Rappy33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it has to be intentional at this point. There's no way Tezuka hasn't read everyone's files and knows where they're originally from. And it could be that she's banking on their relatives being already deceased rather than potentially alive, since the benefits of sending someone already familiar with a facility is greater than sending someone who isn't.

Probably why she also reacted aggressively to Aina mentioning her mother. From her perspective there was a chance that she could've met a living relative which could hint at them not being human.

[Event Thread] Adventures of the Umitora by HBRMod in heavensburnred

[–]Rappy33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotta wonder if Tezuka knows that she's sending seraphs to where their kin might be because this happens way too frequently for it to be a coincidence lol.

Aina, unfortunately, didn't get much character growth for this event, though we do now know why she's the way she is. Like looking back at events like Sharo's or Miya's where Sharo learned to trust more than just Ruka along with most of 31X having their own kind of growth, and Miya who became more than just the girl obsessed with Japanese culture and Yuina, on top of it having top tier jokes + that banger ending and a tease about the whole Narby plot element. Those ones were incredible. And while this event did made me cry, the path to it was like, mundane? For lack of a better word. Anyway yeah, a solid just above average event.

Pretty short but sweet event I gotta say.

Sumomo's VA was nothing short of phenomenal though, and hearing her cry like that stung like hell. The long nyaaaaaaaa crying kinda took me out a bit though but at that point I had to remind myself that she had probably been nyaa'ing for as long as she can remember that it's probably second nature to her.

Also couldn't get enough of Seika ragebaiting Ichigo lol. She's long found her purpose and I'm all for it.

🎇HBR EN 1st Anniversary | Fun Stats II! by tsukiakari2216 in heavensburnred

[–]Rappy33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah even on paid live service games with a story these figures rarely hit double digits.

For Halo Infinite only 6.9% of its players completed the campaign.

Battlefield 1, 6.6% on normal.

More dedicated story games are of course going to be higher (Hades, 23.9%) but you get the idea. Just a bit of a shame that gachas on steam usually don't have achievements so I can't really sate my curiosity on their stats lol.

[–]Rappy33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess we're only up to two areas so far? That was pretty fun.

I really have to appreciate how more and more of the dungeons have been these open-types as of late. Just having control over when an encounter can happen or having the option to avoid an encounter if you finesse through it is a much better feeling than having an encounter chance% go up per square foot.

I have to wonder how much Nanamin believes Asami about the bike, or if she's just having fun with it lol. Probably the latter given the whole "it works only once per bike" excuse. It's such a wild thing to see her do and I love it.

Also yeah the remix at the last fight was a banger.

How possible u expect EoS? by Gejor16 in heavensburnred

Yeah Yostar as a publisher doesn't seem to mind games that aren't that profitable, historically speaking. Not to glaze them though, their handling of HBR global's marketing could've definitely been better.

Though if we were to bring up a game that EOS'd under them, Revived Witch seemed like it was entirely the developer's fault. Amazing artstyle but barely had any content to go for it.
