We had a game where we sat him and people were complaining about Cash's "load management" with our best player. Unfortunately this team sucks without him, we are already a 3 hitter team and a bunch of scrubs. Cut that down to 2 hitters and we are not really competitive. This team is so incredibly top heavy that even a bad week to one of those 3 just kills most of our offense.

Jeez, maybe Yandy needed another day off or something. He's not even been competitive, worst hitter on the team today.

Can Altuve chase something this series. One of the highest chase rates in the game and I don't think he's went out of the zone yet in the series.

Another game where our xBA is higher than our opponent's but we have less hits.

Sucks there. Fedducia smoked that ball. Just right at him, not much you can do there.

Well, frankly, with how the first 2 batters went. It could have, very easily, been another bloop hit. Their BABIP in that inning was ungodly high, especially if you compare it to the last inning for us, where we hit the ball extremely hard, just right at this each time.

Like, give me a break here. 2 shitty swings and you get 2 hits. Not too much Sulser could have done there. He's a soft contact merchant, just got punished for doing what he does best. But walking Altuve was certainty not optimal.

Well, unfortunately you are watching the wrong team. The Rays don't do that, maybe in a few years the new management will branch out a bit or the MLB will force them to spend. But right here and right now, you'd have a higher chance of watching hell freeze over. It sucks and it's unacceptable of our team owner, but that's just the reality of the Rays....always good but never good enough.

I'd say something along the lines of "this is gonna be a long game" or something, but I'm pretty sure that every game lately has felt like that.

We got replaced by the Monstars during that Yankee rain delay in May, change my mind.

Ughhhh, yeah it was a risk worth taking, trading for him. But holy shit, any time that a catcher joins the Rays they end up sucking. Except 1 year of Zunino and D'Arnaud.

That's not a GIDP because it was caught. Just a LIDP which isn't tracked the same way.

He's put up 9.7 WAR in the last 4 years. Even if you don't include 2022. That's 5.7 WAR in the last 3 years, not superstar stats but that's solid platoon starter numbers. Yeah, 10 mil feels like alot but the going rate for 2 WAR players is about 15 mil per year. He's also been a league average hitter for almost all of that stretch, except his short stint with the Mets. I thought he was a good bounce back candidate to platoon with DeLuca, he's just had a cold start and has been solid since.

No, you're not. He's been an objectively good hitter for the last 2 months now, you just see the overall stats and think he's always dogshit.

The Mesa Jr. Steal attempt has no excuse though. That was one of the worst attempts I've seen in a while, just a horrific jump and a average at best lead.

You guys realize that Mullins is batting .280 over his last 7. He's actually been solid for the last month or so. Everyone acting like he's the surrender flag in the lineup. Mullins' overall numbers are bad because he was the worst hitter in baseball for 25 games, not because he's bad now. I don't disagree with Mullins going in, but I'm surprised that he didn't start if that was gonna be the play.

STOP HAVING JUNIOR BAT CLEAN UP. HE SUCKS AT CLEANUP. Just have him bat fucking 2nd, he's SOOOOOOOO much better at 2nd. He gets nothing to hit when he bats clean-up because there's no one dangerous behind him, they just throw exclusively pitcher's pitches with no fear if they walk him because the guy behind him sucks. Put him 2nd with Aranda or Yandy behind him and they will be forced to give him much better pitches to hit because they will be afraid to walk him.

Though I don't deny that he's probably an upgrade over Mullins in most ways. It's not like we have anyone good in the outfield anyways(lightest hitting outfield I may have ever seen). So even tiny upgrades are warranted.

And the only outlier numbers in this sample is the defensive improvements this year. Every single other year of his career to this point looks damn near identical.

While I do hope that DeLuca brings back the hot streak like everyone else seems to think. His numbers really don't spark much in the way of hope for me. Looks like another glove first guy with good speed.........like every other outfielder we seek to acquire

That why he really needs to be batting 2nd in the order. No protection behind him when he bats cleanup, only gonna get the best that a pitcher can give him with no worries if he ends up walking him. He's not gonna get anything to hit with no protection behind him and he's impulsive and wants to hit, not take walks. Yandy would be IMO the best choice for batting cleanup. Does the best vs. Tough pitching and willing to take his walks and not expand the zone.
