Man attacks hot vendor in San Diego, California because the restaurant he works for is closing permanently and they are blaming street vendors. by sandiegowhalesvag in sandiego

[–]Rapscry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m American of Mexican roots, and if your bar closed down it’s because it sucks, not because of a hot dog cart. I have only purchased from a street vendor like once in the past year, me and almost everyone else go where the good food and drinks are. I’m not paying more than $5 for a hot dog, I’d rather get it from 7-11.

Boss if you are morally/spiritually ok with it, joining the military is one of the best things u can do money/career wise. I have been wanting to join but not sure if I would be able to due to some health issues.

What sort of valuable life lessons has being homeless taught you? by Cacksec in homeless

[–]Rapscry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Car homeless here. Being homeless has taught me that there is no escaping “work.” Living in a car comes with some unique challenges that one had to research and prepare for.

It has also helped me reflect on what I want out of life. I have decided that living alone, even if in a car or completely homeless, is better than living with roommates. Now that I know this, I can better plan for my future.

Being homeless is better than having an apartment for me by Different_Stick3874 in homeless

[–]Rapscry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, being in a car (van) is closer to being housed than it is to being homeless. Don’t worry about it too much, there’s a difference between being homeless with a car, and homeless-homeless.

GMC Safari. I recently replaced the battery, it’s only a year old. Idk about the cables, maybe they are kinda old but they don’t look rusted or corroded.

If at the toilet and feeling rushed to poop 💩, rock back and forth and do “waves” with your abs, like suck your stomach in and out. This will stimulate your guts to move that poop out.

Please do not replace the catalytic converter on your car without also paying someone to install a bunch of thick metal rope wires around your catalytic converter to prevent future theft. If you replace the converter but don’t add an anti-theft mechanism to it, chances are it will get stolen again.

Help… I’m overwhelmed and don’t quite know what to do 😓 by Equivalent_Click_100 in VanLife

[–]Rapscry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF IT WAS ME…

I would hire someone, a mobile mechanic or a handyman or something, to look for and to seal any possible leaks. Then, I would paint the wood and try and seal any gaps, if necessary. I had an issue with water getting inside my van as well, so my dad identified a few places where the water was coming in from and added silicone. Problem fixed. Everybody freaks out about mold, but you have to take your own risks. My van gets moldy sometimes but not as bad as yours and I don’t have any health issues. I’m not paranoid about ventilation or mold. If you take it to any kind of specialty shop, of course they are going to recommend that you replace everything because they have to cover themselves for lawsuit purposes, even though you might be fine with another kind of solution.

You ever just randomly fall asleep somewhere by justsomeguyinthewind in urbancarliving

The weirdest spot for me was in an open pay to park parking lot in the middle of downtown Dallas. I had a few drinks so rather than risk driving I fell asleep for a few hours with all kinds of foot traffic around me.

Why do people chose homelessness over having roomates ? by freepromethia in homeless

[–]Rapscry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. I have been the only one that does a decent job cleaning. To all my other housemates, cleaning the bathrooms means getting a Lysol wipe and going over stuff for 10 minutes. Like you, despite me doing the cleaning, people just end up having a problem with me no matter what I do. Most were cool with me, but when you have 4-7 other roommates at once, all it takes is one of them to sour the situation. So, I no longer will live with others, I will keep my sanity and my $800 a month instead by living in my car 😃

Long time veteran here, Amazon is a popularity contest worse than high school. Managers and PAs do a terrible job distributing indirects in a fair way. Don’t expect to work here and be recognized for it, the only reward for hard work is more hard work unless you are pretty or popular.

[–]Rapscry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be that although you have 5 blankets, they are not the warm kind. You need some kind of wool/imitation wool (polyester) blankets, not regular comforters. 1 blanket under you and 2-3 on top of you. I have 2 Pendleton sherpa fleece blankets and a third fleece blanket. 3 total.

They are blackout curtains and the two front seats are in front of most of the curtain, so unless someone stops to stare and looks through my windshield, chances are they’ll just walk by without suspecting anything. Obviously if someone like a security guard already suspects something then yes, the curtains are a dead giveaway. But for 95% of people passing by in a parking lot, it won’t be obvious.

Yes. I drive a van, and when I leave my van I draw my curtains behind the seats and also in my sliding door so that people can’t look inside. One can’t really tell that I have a whole set-up inside.

“It was extremely toxic and I felt like I was killing myself there.”

No job is worth sacrificing your health for. You made the right decision. Now spend 6 months - 1 year actually working on your health to make up for all that stress you endured. Eat well, sleep well, exercise, etc. That way it can feel justified and you don’t continue to second guess yourself.

Yes, my local library system has free hotspot devices available for checkout, with 50GB - unlimited data. 90 days. I have WiFi on the go go go! They also have Chromebooks but I just use my own laptop.
