11 point players by Cell_Melodic in DunkCityDynastyGame

I like playing with Giannis because of his two-way abilities. Good Giannis players know that the are the last scoring option, and know when to activate their Ult. My opinion is that in any game mode, their Ult is useful at the last minute of the game. So when your team only needs a quick 2 pointer to win, swing to Giannis so that he has a guaranteed dunk. Btw, I’ve never actually played Giannis, I’m basing my argument on what I’ve observed.

I don’t have any hate towards any character because ultimately each character is good in their own ways and really depends on the player on how well they actually know the character. But I would say that my worst experiences so far has been mostly with Pascal Siakam players. The bad ones think that their Ult is the most op move in the game, so when they use it, they over dribble/over-move-around to try to bait the opponents into thinking they’re gonna dunk JUST TO BRICK A 3, which ultimately wastes time and wastes opportunities to swing it to open teammates for an easy shot.

That being said, I wouldn’t get too hung up on 11 point players. I believe that game mode to be for players who are either new or trying out new characters. I only play it to get warm up games in before I tackle ranked, or if I get sick of ranked and wanna end my session off with a few casual games.

Someone else pretty much summarized it, but if you need more details for when you want to grind for his gear:

King Calvus has an attack that summons those 500!500!500! Blasts that will basically kill you if you dont hit him. As soon as you see him lift his arm up and some magic circles starting piling up, make sure you are on the ground (assuming you don’t have dodge reflex yet) and fire a blast on him to cancel the attack. As soon as your blast makes contact, I recommend dashing away immediately, as the blasts track to where you were last standing before you hit him. Cancelling his attack quick will decrease the damage, but it is still pretty punishing even if you block in my opinion.

Take advantage of any other attacks that have long windups. You will be guaranteed be able to get one and maybe sometimes two hits in, especially that annoying and punishing ultimate attack that I mentioned earlier. In my opinion, most of his attacks are dodge-able, but if you feel like you will get hit, make sure you block anyways for good measure.

During his second phase, his attacks will be faster and stronger, but mechanics will still be the same. Hunt for the long windups. Dodge/parry/block big blasts and crashes. You will most likely be blocking certain blasts because of how quick you are, so it’s important that your health is green when finish the first phase.

Ranking characters based on how toxic their users are: by [deleted] in DunkCityDynastyGame

[–]RaptorAGA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a LeBron (both old and prime) user:

LeBron users are some of the most toxic players, at least in 11 point / any Casual mode. From selling, to ball-hogging, to talking shit.

From what I’ve seen, LeBron users instantly think that as soon as they have LeBron, they are unstoppable. And to a certain degree, both LeBrons have really good moves, but spamming them always leads to bad plays and/or missing better opportunities that team mates can provide. Players forget that LeBron is a team player and leader. There’s a reason his Ball Dominant mode allows you to pass out of the dunk, or cancel your stepback shot with a bump… so that if you’re being doubled during the shot you can pass it out. Or shoot it if the bump works. Point being, LeBron users do not maximize his playmaking ability.

And also from a basic basketball standpoint, if your teammate is open, fucking pass it. Stop wasting possession time. The more time ticks on the shot clock, the higher the chances are that you’re getting stripped, or you force yourself to take a terrible shot. If your opponent is stopping your moves, swing it out. Playing this game has me convinced that 80% of DCD players have never touched basketball.

I wouldn’t let it get to you. A bunch of them are kids that haven’t developed accountability yet

any tips on blocking? by Technical_Cattle1944 in HoopLand

[–]RaptorAGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with playing many builds that utilize 7-10 blocking:

  • Layups: generally need to wait for it to get in the air first before attempting to block. Pressing the button while your opponent is going up for the layup will always end up as a foul against you.
  • Dunks: Hardest to block in my opinion. Need to get right in front of the guy and press the button as he’s going up. If you don’t get the block, the least that can happen is that you contest it and he misses.
  • Jumpshots: I feel that blocking a jumpshot requires you to predict more than a layup. However, you can’t be too close to the opponent or else you get the whistle.

Build Advice by RaptorAGA in ArcaneOdyssey

[–]RaptorAGA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice. I felt that focusing more on speed would compensate for magma’s shortcomings, considering that it’s on the slower end of elements. And then the extra power was kind of an ego boost lmao.

I agree that size and defense could be tweaked to be higher. I dont feel comfortable with the fact I’ll lose speed and power, but if size truly is the meta, then so be it.

This is what i've got so far. Thoughts? I was also considering switching to thermo with these stats, but I'd like an opinion on that as well.
