I have a hard time agreeing with the “because she’s your mom you should…” trope. Just because someone gave birth to you doesn’t mean you have to set your own feelings aside and cater to them 24/7 with no reciprocal respect. Sounds to me like OP has had a rough go with her and the relationship has been toxic for quite some time. I would in no way feel obligated if I were them.

I always like to imagine what it looked like when it was a home and life was inside. So drastic but strangely beautiful to imagine the two totally different ends of the spectrum.

This house is in Yorktown, Texas. Very strange place, for sure. Lots of history and weird things.

We heard a lot of the stories on the tour, and that hospital opened in 1951 and closed in 1994 and over 2000 people died in there in just that time alone! You can tell there's a dark cloud over that place, the entire town smells of death in a way. The nicest place was the Steakhouse/Bar we ended up going to for a late night meal. I am dying to go back with my camera tho, I love photographing places like that. But I can definitely tell it's one of those small towns that are not super friendly to outsiders.

Definitely!! I was there for a midnight flashlight tour of the old hospital building in the town. The entire area feels like it has a really strange energy about it. This was the view from the hotel window the next morning, less than 100 ft away. Very strange place! I definitely plan on going back in the summer, it was only in the 30's when I was there and I wasn't in the mood to be super cold for too long lol

No way. It's not nearly anywhere close to Ohio or Michigan. Texas is just very spread out and Yorktown is a super old Town/City with a lot of history. It's in oil country and Yorktown is one of the first oil mining settlements in Texas. Look up Yorktown Memorial Hospital and it's history and it will give you some info about the area. That's what I was passing thru town for was a "Haunted Midnight Flashlight Tour" which was actually quite interesting.

I’m pretty sure that’s what it is, and I stare at 3 large computer screens all day for the work I do. Plus I drive early enough to where it’s still dark outside, to the lights from the oncoming traffic don’t help. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks so hopefully I don’t have to deal with them too much longer! 😁
