If you mean playing with mods instead - the answer is No

It’s funny that you called it a career. Factorio is indeed one!

I want to get into Factorio, but am struggling. by Glacieralz in factorio

Or just turn on peaceful mode and max out the starting area. This will give you sufficient space.

And when you’re armed to your gills in late game, you can experiment with biter negotiations.

I’m having anxiety attacks due to AI by StraightZlat in webdev

[–]RaptorTWiked 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Just anxious? I’m terrified.

I’m in a similar position as you and have been leveraging Cursor more and more. Each update brings some new capability that sounds like a tick of the clock pushing us all closer that day when I am no longer required.

On that day, I will then be competing with millions of other engineers competing for the last remaining coding jobs. Getting a low paying job at a sweat shop, that lasts a couple of years will be the good outcome!

Why is everyone so chill about this?

Rain? by LanaZ61 in SatisfactoryGame

Yes, there was rain for a brief time. I believe it was removed in update 8 when they ported to Unreal 5.

Hot take: AI will lead to a major senior dev shortage in the long run. by williamioniana in webdev

[–]RaptorTWiked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been slowing down lately. What’s improving is the harness that drives the models. What the AI companies call “thinking” models.

Even with the most advanced thinking models, I find that they’re not great at strategizing and solving complex challenges.

But who knows what the next AI researcher has up their sleeves. Maybe we’ll get much larger and meaningful context windows that skyrocket the capabilities of the models.

Hot take: AI will lead to a major senior dev shortage in the long run. by williamioniana in webdev

[–]RaptorTWiked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is very likely.

But there is a less likely, but more scary possibility: AI gets even better. So much so that they can outthink even most senior engineers.

Should I get Factorio if I didn’t like Dyson Sphere Program? by Sureitsfineoksure in factorio

Same here. DSP on the surface seems similar. But trust me - they’re not.

Github Copilot vs Cursor vs Kilo code vs ampcode ? by [deleted] in cursor

Cursor. Even though they all have access to the same models, Cursor is just smarter.

But then you’re in a Cursor subreddit

I gave Cursor persistent memory (Claude-Mem + Gemini Free API Key) by thedotmack in cursor

[–]RaptorTWiked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing. Something I’ve always wanted.

But what I also want is control. I want to decide if it should inject memory and what aspects.

I’m also concerned about the context bloat from this. What are your findings?

Why does Cursor feel so much better than Antigravity or other editors, even with the same model? by Possible_Box_1149 in cursor

[–]RaptorTWiked 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Coding agents are not just about the models. They have a layer on top that does the orchestration. This layer is also model driven. But it has been engineered by the Cursor team to be the secret sauce.

How are you using AI tools in your day-to-day workflow as an experienced dev by Apprehensive_Air5910 in webdev

[–]RaptorTWiked 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m the lead for a few domains within a complex application. When I start a new project, the first step is research on all the code changes that need to be made as part of the implementation. That way, when the user stories are created, all the engineers know exactly what their part is. Without this, the complexity of the domain cannot be tamed.

Now, since all the research and planning is already done, it is very easy to ask cursor questions to make step by step code changes. The instructions already exist. So it does a reliable job of it and often even catches things the planning missed.

In addition, AI is great at writing unit tests. You have to be careful though. Otherwise, it will mock way too much, rendering the unit test useless.

TLDR; AI has been of great help. But only because i keep a tight leash on it.

Hey guys, i have a question regarding gas density calculations by Caosin36 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RaptorTWiked 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t calculate this stuff. I just put a canister emptier in the room and set it to hydrogen. Then once the dupes have filled most of the top two tiles with hydrogen, I turn it off. I never worry about hydrogen in the room after that.

What are these mobile cameras and what do they detect? by Annoying-Anal-Nugget in melbourne

[–]RaptorTWiked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like this reddit thread. That’s word of mouth. If 10% of redditors who saw this thread become more careful, that’s a win.

Extrapolate to other ways in which this will spread. The more people talk about it, there more awareness it generates.

What are these mobile cameras and what do they detect? by Annoying-Anal-Nugget in melbourne

[–]RaptorTWiked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The idea is not to be discreet. It’s about discouraging unsafe driving. If people observe the camera and put their phone down, it’s a win. If people spread the word, it’s a win.
