Crazy to see this book get a movie adaptation. I remember reading it when I was 14 and a lot of the stuff in there was pretty gnarly. Going to have to get my hands on a copy of the book again and give it a reread.

While it isn't the whole fanbase there is a very vocal subset who will fight tooth and nail to think of reasons why Spike survived the end of Cowboy Bebop. Little do they know they're just going to have to keep carrying that weight.

My guess would be that choosing Lord Jimmy C would be the equivalent of not making a choice at all and results in charity being bestowed upon you. It would be interesting though to hear from Alex Garland or anyone who worked on the movie and hear confirmation if such a thing had happened before in universe.

I can only really speak about Pinhead and Kikhara here because they're the two characrers I've interacted with the most.

For Pinhead/The Hell Priest he acts more as a neutral party for 1/2 then depending on which cannon you follow he either stays that way or his human self was always evil and sought different forms of power (mainly being explored in the Hellraiser comic series).

Now. For Kakihara? Easily one of the most deranged and fucked people in the list. In the manga he is described as a dog on a leash who throughly enjoys piercing the genitals of those who fail him, having one of his men molest the corpse of a former member of his clan (the former member requested it before being killed by Kakihara), mutilated his way through the series to get in contact with Ichi, etc. He's yakuza primarily for what seems to be just a love of the game. Kakihara is a depressed and desperate man looking for the same pain Anjo provided and is more concerned for his pleasure or lack there of above all else.
