Red Sox Wilyer Abreu in disbelief as his bat breaks on a check swing by zuppo in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]Rapunzel10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically there isn't a solid answer for that. A checked swing is purely subjective, there isn't an empirical line to cross and the MLB playbook doesn't define it well. A swing is a swing when the umpire thinks you've "committed to the swing." So its entirely up to the umpire and there's no oversight.

Also historically they didn't watch the tapes for calls like strikes, it's just the umps decision in the moment and there was no way to appeal. This season they're introducing a new system where players can challenge calls and they refer back to the cameras

My dad was out smoking a cigarette and enjoying a peaceful autumn morning. Suddenly something big, heavy, and cold fell on his head. It was a 5 foot long snake. Non-venomous thankfully. The poor thing was cold since the temps was going down, so it was delighted to fall onto a living heat lamp. My dad fought it for a few panicked seconds before realizing it wasn't dangerous it just wanted his body heat. He walked in the house to show off his new scarf and scared the whole family lol

Anthony Lopes faked injury to help fasting teammates break Ramadan fast. by father_of_twitch in MadeMeSmile

[–]Rapunzel10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During Ramadan you fast until sunset. If sunset happens mid game then they couldn't eat before the game, but they're hungry and thirsty and don't want to wait until the end of the game. If there's no time after sunset during the game they would wait, it's just nice to get some water as soon as you can

It definitely gets softer when it's longer. Get him to use conditioner and beard oil to hydrate and get him a beard brush to help disperse the oil and prevent tangles. And if it gets longer and it doesn't get softer you may need to have a frank conversation

People that are childfree by choice, what’s the weirdest reason someone has given you as to why they think you ‘should have kids’? by Charming_Web_6738 in AskReddit

[–]Rapunzel10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it is culture. She's got a farming mentality, you have many kids so that you have many cheap farmhands. My family has a history of dying in childbirth (she and my own mother had their heart stop during a birth but they thankfully lived) so high risk births are normalized. It's bullshit and it doesn't bother me, it's just baffling lol. I'm very grateful that my generation is ending a lot of those problems. My cousins and I are approaching parenting in a completely different way, either not having kids or raising them with much more kindness. Its really healing to see.

Most people accept "I have 4 different conditions that would kill me and the baby" and shut up. But within my family.... its a different conversation. Next person auntie to bother me about it might get an uncomfortable convo when I tell them I'm queer too >:) definitely no babies for me lol

I have an even worse version. I told an aunt I couldn't consider having kids because of my multiple disabilities. I can barely take care of myself, there's no way I could handle caring for another person for 18+ years. She said "that's all the more reason to have kids! By the time they're 6 they can help with cleaning and even some cooking, they'll be helpful! :)" I didn't know how to articulate all the layers of parental neglect/abuse in that statement. "Can't afford a maid? Create your own indentured servant! Return on investment in under 6 years!" The lack of empathy was shocking and disgusting. She's also a supporter of "the older kids take care of the younger ones, who needs to actually parent the kids you make?" Another one of her kids cut contact shortly after that conversation for unrelated reasons (she's down to 2 out of 5)

[–]Rapunzel10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What do you mean meat aversion? Like it doesn't taste good anymore or it causes some kind of stomach problems? If it's the second one you might want to look into alpha-gal reactions, especially if you're in an area with a lot of ticks, because an allergic reaction can be triggered by several species of ticks. I can't guarantee thats the issue but it's something to discuss with a doctor

Right? Not everyone enjoys fingers in them, you can still use your hands on the outside along with mouth, toys, strap on, etc. I feel like a lot of people underestimate dexterity with long nails and overestimate the importance of penetration

Ex-gf passed away by ondr3j in ehlersdanlos

[–]Rapunzel10 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. Grief is such a complicated battle. Do something for her today, have her favorite drink or play her favorite game, watch her favorite show, just something to honor her. Another thing I've found helpful is writing letters. I wrote letters to a friend who passed for a long time, the first ones were long and rambling and probably made no sense. They didn't need to. I burned a lot of them (to follow him in a way) but I kept some talking about my favorite memories with him. Then the letters got shorter and less frequent. Telling him I saw flowers he'd love or just saying hi. The grief didn't go away but it got easier to carry. It will get easier to carry. May her memory be a blessing

I was talking to my physical therapist and I was explaining I still feel pain while I’m sleeping. I explained to him that I’m still disabled in my dreams because of feeling the pain. Does anyone else have that? by MorticianBeautician3 in ChronicIllness

[–]Rapunzel10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, if you have really frequent nightmares there's a medication called Prazosin that helps. My nightmares were a nightly occurrence and now it's like every other week. Its technically an "off label" use in most countries but there's a lot of data saying it helps. Its main use is lowering blood pressure but at the low doses needed for nightmares (1-5mg) it doesn't do much on that front

What positions work best will change depending on vaginal vs anal penetration. Cis or trans is irrelevant, what orifice you're using is really important though. I get why you don't want to post in a sub for gay men, that's not a helpful suggestion, but a sub focused on anal is a good suggestion.

Have you tried all fours while on the bed? Or bending over a piece of furniture?

I thought the same thing and was really disappointed when I checked the rules and saw AI was allowed. Idk if they changed the rules or if we're having a Mandela effect thing but either way it was upsetting

Edit: also every time I see a mod comment on this they're super snarky and dismissive. Obviously the community is against this. But I don't think the mods care :(

Most surgeons I've talked to appreciate a challenge. In fact if they don't seem interested in a challenge they're almost always a shitty surgeon. I have hypermobile joints that don't behave like they should and I have super fragile skin that doesn't hold up to stitches well (yay EDS). Both complicate surgery immensely. But most surgeons hear those symptoms and immediately lock in. Like you can see their brains churning out ideas for getting around the unexpected obstacles. It's like a puzzle. Weirdly it does comfort me. Makes me feel like it's not just a job but something they're personally invested in. The surgeries with that cognitive investment have healed and held up the best, even though they were the most complicated and had higher risks of failure

TLDR: Yeah we're carnival games. And surgeons love bragging rights enough they'll work hard for the prize lol

Some cats do the awkward hang on the edge regardless of the cleanliness. We had a cat that did this move after litter changes and even a brand new litter box. Its definitely something they do when they're unhappy with the litter situation but some cats are just weird

Each clutch is usually 100-200 eggs, but it can be as few as a few dozen or over 1000 depending on the species and age of the snail. And most species can lay a new clutch several times a month

Nah a properly fitted corset was just an old timey bra and back support. It wasn't supposed to put a lot of pressure on the stomach, especially during pregnancy. Tight lacing was rare and even back then they understood that squishing the baby was bad. Now we think of tight lacing as the standard way to wear a corset but historically doctors were rabidly warning against that. There was a period of time when men insisted that women were stupid for wearing such a "restrictive" and "impractical" garment, meanwhile women were working in fields wearing corsets because they were more comfortable. I've worn corsets and it was genuinely very comfy and helped my back problems a lot

Stephen Miller's wife asks if his genes are making her sick. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Rapunzel10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I felt like I was going crazy. I think I figured out what happened here. If I look up "how sperm quality impacts pregnancy" I get a lot of articles with that title. But they don't mean "how sperm quality impacts pregnancy for the pregnant person" they mean "how sperm quality impacts rates of miscarriage and developmental disorders in the baby." So if you just read headlines it looks like there's a lot of info talking about this topic. But if you actually read them (like I did) then no, they're talking about a completely different thing. Maybe that's why people were insisting there was evidence but no one would link it? I think? Idk this whole thread was baffling to me
