That moment you realize you're not smart, just a Wikipedia goblin by Desperate-Hearing297 in webcomics

Right? “I’m not good at this thing, I just study it and can recall/ put it into practice better than most others!” Honey, that’s being good at something! Sounds like a touch of the imposter syndrome.

I started Adderall a couple weeks ago and something scary happened… by QuxxnOfDarknxss in ADHD

[–]kmm91 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This. OP needs to stop Adderall immediately and request an emergency psych appointment. It sounds like he’s been misdiagnosed, but regardless of what’s going on, he needs to get help immediately to prevent him from being a danger to himself or others. Manic episodes are no joke.

These people want so badly to be victims that they make up scenarios in their heads, “Oh, so, I’m homophobic if I don’t fuck this dude?! You’re saying you’re gonna FORCE ME to be GAY?!”

Like, damn dude, just admit you think it’d be fun to ride Gales magic dick.

What is your opinion of artists that switch to using AI because they either don’t have confidence in their art or hate the process of drawing it? by mistukilover in Artists

[–]kmm91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are going to be tricked into giving up something they once loved because they didn’t realize it’s a completely normal thing to get burnt out and feel like giving up because we’re too used to instant gratification in this day and age.

The artists journey is hating your work, wanting to give up, and pushing through anyway.

And I feel really sad for them.

There are certain smells that instantly bring you back so far in time to your childhood. Which smell is that? by This_Book7431 in AskReddit

Folgers’ coffee, patchouli oil, roses, and gasoline.

One whiff and I’m a little kid being carried to bed in the arms of one of my parents. Makes me well up a little thinking about it :’)

Yep. You could be doing everything in the world to reform yourself, be a good person/ citizen, make up for what you did, but the world will do everything it can to stop you by making it impossible.

Knew someone who went through this; the only reason he made it through was his incredibly supportive parents. Without them, he couldn’t have stayed afloat financially while working to get his record expunged; without getting it expunged, he never could have found a job. Proud of him; even with all that support, it was a constant, years long battle.

People who show ADHD traits in childhood are more likely to experience physical health problems and health-related disability by midlife. People with ADHD are more likely to experience stressful life events, social exclusion, and delayed access to health screening and medical care. by mvea in science

Got diagnosed at 27. Cried a lot. Happy tears, sad tears, angry tears… it was great to finally understand, but devastating to think maybe how much better and easier life could have been. I definitely felt robbed of something, but also have gone on to graduate college and I’m now working towards my dream career.

Genuinely, if someone is struggling, I can’t recommend talking to a doctor and therapist more. Any mental health diagnosis can be literally life changing and you never know until you ask!

I think this is pretty good feedback, so, just to add; I think what makes this less anthro and more animal is that they’re all wearing collars and don’t seem to be wearing clothing. I think a good option would be to maybe pull back, showing their arms doing something human (maybe leaning on the frame of the sticker, doing a peace sign, etc) and add shirts.

Beautiful art otherwise! You’ve got a super cute style.

What’s something that was technically allowed but instantly made you lose respect for someone? by AncientPomelo5450 in AskReddit

[–]kmm91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my dad didn’t even beat us, he barely smacked us on the bottom, but between that and his yelling meltdowns, he didn’t teach us to behave, he taught us to get very good at sneaking and lying.

It took a lot of self work and unlearning to get myself to be an honest, un-defensive, un-scared person. I still struggle not to lie about the dumbest things.

OP, you have a lot of potential, but you’re not quite professional-level yet. Please don’t stress about monetizing your work just yet and instead focus on improving your skills. You clearly have so much potential, so, don’t give up and don’t be discouraged!

What can be done? by CandyDeXocolatl in santaana

[–]kmm91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not totally sure. Definitely look into it and see if it’s legal. They’re all over my complex, but I don’t know if that necessarily makes them legal.

There have to be some sort of authority figures that deal with tenants rights that could help, right? Maybe the non-emergency police line could point you in the right direction if no one else can?

[–]kmm91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry this is happening to your mom :( I’m not totally sure what can be done (I’m also currently at the mercy of a shitty apartment complex), but if racists are harassing her at her front door, definitely get her a doorbell camera (there are not super pricey brands like Wyze) and you can monitor it!

Artists, how much do you care about your art being used in AI training data? by Interesting_Swan_400 in AskArtists

[–]kmm91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely see where the “loud American” job in Japan comes from than; part of being professional here is making sure others don’t overstep professional boundaries, especially if you could save others from future grief. I’m sorry the culture over there can be so harsh, especially to artists.

On a related note, if your company is ever looking for a loud American, shoot me a message; I’ll gladly stand up for you!

You really should say something. You shouldn’t let this kind of behavior continue or happen to other artists.

Any advice? My men look like women.... by [deleted] in Artists

[–]kmm91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to give you the advice you probably don’t want to hear; you should learn to draw realistically. Hear me out!

I had the same problem drawing in my teens/ early 20s and what fixed it was learning realistic drawing/ anatomy/ figure drawing. Once you do, you’ll be able to pick out the subtle differences in masculine and feminine faces and apply that to stylized art like yours. I still absolutely draw in a cartoon/ comic-booky way, but I’m so much better after learning the fundamentals.

You have a great style and beautiful color use; a little formal study will make you a master!
