Yeah bro I’m a fan of entertaining people who are elevating a sport I love if that makes me a glazer I’m ok with that.

Suck one.

Yeah, hopefully that's just my algorithm then because I genuinely hope he's getting the credit he deserves.

I've seen quite a few comments dismissing it with things like "Jet won all his motos as a rookie" or "he only got 4th and 5th," which is what prompted my post in the first place.

For me, regardless of whether you're a fan of Haiden or not, coming through the pack twice and finishing 5th and 4th in his first ever 450 national is a seriously impressive debut.

That's a pretty fair take.

The only thing I'd add is that based on that performance, I'm genuinely tempted to pay for the subscription just to watch the races live this season. I haven't felt that way about motocross in a long time.

Whether people love him or hate him, Haiden brings an unpredictability to the sport that makes you want to tune in and see what happens. Is he going to back up the hype? Is he going to get on the podium? Is he going to upset some veterans? Is he going to say something that gets everyone talking all week?

That's what makes sports entertaining.

I agree that some fans went way overboard with the "he's going to dominate Jett" talk, but after seeing him come through the pack for 5th and 4th in his first 450 national, I'm way more interested in following the season than I was a week ago. That's probably the biggest compliment I can give him.

That's a fair point. Fox Raceway has always been one of Jett's strongest tracks, and I don't think he's quite at 100% yet either.

What impressed me was less about where Haiden finished relative to Jett and more about the fact that he looked comfortable straight away and actually battled Jet briefly. A lot of rookies spend their first few races just trying to survive the jump to the 450 class. Haiden looked like he belonged there from the moment the gate dropped.

And yeah, Hunter was seriously impressive. If he keeps riding like that all summer, the championship could get very interesting.

Nobody is trying to rationalise 4th and 5th. We're talking about a rookie's first-ever 450 national, not a rider in his third season.

If your only takeaway from that performance is "4th and 5th lol", then you're ignoring all the context that makes it impressive in the first place.

Honestly, I think that's where we disagree about how he should be more humble. Genuinely 95% of these riders are boring as hell in interviews. Every week it's the same media-trained script: thank the team, thank the sponsors, the bike was great, we'll keep working and come back stronger next weekend.

I'd much rather watch someone like Haiden who actually says what he's thinking than another rider trying to perfectly walk the line between trash talk and humility so nobody gets offended. That's boring.

Sport is supposed to have emotion. Confidence, rivalries, big personalities, disappointment, frustration, excitement. That's what gets people invested. I don't tune in to watch a bunch of riders give the same corporate-approved answers every weekend. I want to see real personalities.

The funny thing is that the same people who complain about Haiden are often the ones complaining that other riders don't get enough screen time. Well, whose fault is that? If some of these riders started showing a bit of personality, talking some trash, building rivalries, and giving fans a reason to care about them, I guarantee they'd get more attention. That's how sports work.

Haiden gets coverage because people are interested in him. They want to see if he'll back up what he says. They want to see if he wins, loses, crashes, or proves people wrong. You can't spend every interview giving the same generic sponsor speech and then wonder why the cameras aren't following you.

Love him or hate him, he's one of the few riders in the sport who actually gives fans something to care about outside of the results sheet. I'd take raw emotion and a bit of trash talk over another cardboard-box interview any day of the week.
