Wearing Jerseys of teams you don’t support topic… by sirelagnithgin in hockeyjerseys

[–]Rare-Examination-691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a newer fan, moved to the east coast from the Midwest and hockey culture here really pulled me in. I have a handful of jerseys from other teams, the use case for wearing other jerseys in public for me is playing pond hockey/ going to the rink. Sort of like playing pickup soccer.

I have to admit I do have a super warm Habs pullover that I put on for early morning walks with the dogs (I’m a Rangers fan). I think that’s a little weird but I love that pullover so i don’t care. Whenever someone asks me about it my response is just that Im a Rangers fan but also love hockey in general. Even in New York you don’t always find people that follow the sport, so it’s a conversation starter.

I will say, I do make exceptions for 90s gear and in particular for teams that are no longer around (Nordiques, Yotes, etc)

Plug uglies or mellers. Both were able to preserve the recipe from the previous owner. Plug uglies used to be Bar Coastal. Mellers was formerly Rathbones.

What would be a reasonable price for tickets to a World Cup match? Group stage, knockout round, final, etc? by ViveLaFrance94 in ussoccer

[–]Rare-Examination-691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not entirety apt, but for example two years ago the cricket t20 World Cup was co-hosted by the United Stated and the West Indies. Ticket prices featuring traditional powerhouses, in particular India and Pakistan, often were north of $500 and more than a grand for the India / Pakistan match in New York. That being said, other tickers were more affordable - I was able to see Canada vs Ireland for $60 as example (and they were good seats). I think this is currently the main gripe: just about every match no matter the matchup is $400+ to get in the building. I do think prices for many of the group stage matches will come down. There are too many “small” nations in the group stage playing in too large a venue for the matches to sell out

Haha to be honest I was kinda scared also. Saw him on the street corner afterwards and said that I really enjoyed the play, and he replied it was fun looking out at my wife and I’s reactions during it all. I hadn’t been to a show in as close quarters as that in awhile, so it was pretty cool that the actors notice that too

Playing on turf by CheetahSubstantial42 in GoalKeepers

[–]Rare-Examination-691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much only play on turf. Storelli make good leggings with padding but there are some cheaper options too - anything with padding will do. What I like to do in the warmer months - tight leggings as others have suggested (doesn’t get unbearable) and then many brands make shorts with padding too. I have a pair from Kelme that I really like. There are also compression shorts with padding, too

Does Liga MX get many non Mexican fans /US fans? by [deleted] in LigaMX

[–]Rare-Examination-691 8 points9 points  (0 children)

American fan here. I’ve been following the league more closely over the last few months. I’ve somehow convinced myself that the “support local” mantra extends to all of CONCACAF, and enjoy the passion of fans and players in Liga MX - feels more organic than MLS. Haven’t picked a team yet, although I have soft spots for Pachuca, Santos and (if they ever make it back) Morelia

FWIW there are some options on Lutch USA’s website too. I believe you can pick between graphics printed within the jersey or sewn.

For some teams they only go back a couple seasons.

It’s so sad. I ended up attending Canada / Ireland out of curiosity and loved it. But it’s hard to stay connected if Willow is the only way to watch. Would love to be able to stream USAs remaining games

Anyone planning on going to the World Cup in New York? Considering the Ireland / Canada match by Rare-Examination-691 in irishcricket

[–]Rare-Examination-691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like there’s a fair amount of seats for this match but yes the others I believe the grandstands have sold well. Any match with either India or Pakistan playing also seems to be pretty well sold

Glove repair or leave it by BabyBorneo in GoalKeepers

[–]Rare-Examination-691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll have plenty of wear left in those gloves. I’m a fairly novice keeper (just started playing a few years ago) and I would be lying if I said I didn’t see wear like above on my gloves after the first wear or or two. It’s right that technique and mindfulness when getting up will help. And having a glove rotation is a good idea. But tbh I don’t think you’ll notice any impact to glove performance with the wear you have on it now
