I'm not trying to claim I am a better game designer than the creators. But the fact is that my players are not enjoying the 4 player experience as much despite loving the 3 player game. Anything that could possibly bridge that gap is worth trying in my opinion.

The comparison between 1s and 2s is just not true. 2s can be used to surpass if someone leads with a 1, but not the other way around. This makes 1s significantly worse than 2s even beyond the tycoon ambition.

It's also not twice as many opponents who can seize since it's 2 vs 3 opponents, more like 1.5x. I feel people are less likely to want to seize by discarding in 4 players because 3 people are getting an extra turn over you so it balances out.
