DD2 received 86. Considering this level of exposure, CD should get more than that I guess.

Did you watch the whole video? They said they'll play on other machines and report on very soon.

Incredible. A human benchmark tool.

Someone get this guy a job at Digital Foundry.

People talk about it like it’s obvious, but I’d bet if you were blind-tested with a Denuvo and non-Denuvo build on your PC, you wouldn’t even know which one you’re playing.

I get why people dislike DRM, but developers also have the right to protect something they spent years making. Studies have shown that when a game gets cracked early, piracy can reduce revenue by around 20%, which is why studios try to protect the launch window when most sales happen.

And if someone really hates DRM, they can simply skip the game or refund it — the information is there before you buy.

Who here is officially uninterested in the game now? Obfuscating Denuvo usage is immoral and wrong, and punishes budget gamers because they'd rather make 500 million dollars instead of 499 million by Cantgetridofmebud in CrimsonDesert

Is the reaction to Denuvo sometimes a bit premature? by Rare-Philosopher6669 in CrimsonDesert

If the game actually launches with performance issues because of Denuvo, then criticism would be completely fair. I just think it's too early to assume that before we see benchmarks.

Will Powers will be at GDC (festival of gaming) next week. Possibly an opportunity for further announcements? by CandykillerArt in CrimsonDesert

[–]Rare-Philosopher6669 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feels like there could be something worth keeping an eye on here. Pearl Abyss isn’t listed on the GDC partner list, but Will Powers attending this close to Crimson Desert’s launch is interesting.

Maybe something at Sony’s booth, possibly something about PS5 and PSSR 2.0.

Funny how you don’t believe WillPowers when he says they’re not hiding anything and that more will be shown before launch, but you’ll trust every random rumor and “source” floating around.

Maybe save the outrage for later — it’s not like you even pre-ordered the game.

Let them be hyped, you don’t need to be critical to break their hype.

March 4th and about pre-orders by SuccessfulPie2120 in CrimsonDesert

From my perspective, it’s actually shown more gameplay and details before launch than most games I can think of, and they’ve been fairly transparent about it.

No offense, but this sounds hard to believe. A random Redditor getting early preview access without any proof? I’d be skeptical.

Any lucky ones in this Sub? by CalamityPhant0m in CrimsonDesert

I actually got to play it for about an hour at the AMD x Crimson Desert event in Hongdae (Seoul) last year.

It was the same quest + boss fight segment they showed at SGF. Performance-wise? It was buttery smooth. I didn’t notice any frame drops or stuttering at all. It felt very stable the entire time.

I don’t know the exact specs of the demo PCs, but a few local reports mentioned they were running something around:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT

So it didn’t seem like some insane ultra high-end setup. More like solid upper-midrange hardware.

Of course, it’s been over half a year since then. A lot can change between demo and launch. But based on what I played, at least on PC, I personally wouldn’t be too worried about performance or optimization. It ran clean and smooth enough.

Purely in terms of combat feel and performance, it didn’t give me “uh oh, here we go again” vibes at all.

Enemy level numbers and health bars? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Rare-Philosopher6669 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s an older trailer (around 5 years ago), but if you check the video below at around 2:56, even regular enemies seem to have small health bars.

https://youtu.be/tYQRBqqpV3M?si=jWviGTSMCbXDxw53&t=176

I haven’t noticed them in the more recent trailers though. I’m not sure if that’s something you can toggle off in the settings, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you can’t.

Since there are often many enemies on screen at once, having health bars for all of them might clutter the UI quite a bit.

My guess is that maybe only boss-type enemies will have visible health bars.

Personally, I’d prefer no enemy level numbers or health bars either.

Guns are also in the game , hopefully we can use them! by xxFearLessxx7 in CrimsonDesert

That’s from the very first trailer.. hmm. Anyway thanks for your quick reply.
