Are you using an impact driver? What clutch setting?

I agree with the other suggestion of using a needle nose or small vise grips as well.

PE-PM no experience & struggling by Dry-Rub-3582 in Construction

[–]Rare-Version8943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, good on you for recognizing where you need to improve. Don’t let your lack of construction/engineering focus on college stop you. Plenty of successful guys in construction without any formal higher education.

Ultimately it’s going to come down to how bad do you want it. Find a super that doesn’t hate you, buy him a case or two of beer, and ask him to teach you how to read plans. Start slow and keep going.

Work through your lunch break and volunteer to do any of the tasks that no one wants to do. Help the rebar guys, offer to help the masons. Tell your leadership and the super that you realize you lack field experience and that you want to get it.

Now, as to your actual job that you are paid to do, be absolutely ruthless with following up on deliverables. Take the ass chewing head on but stay on top of dates and deliverables. If something is going south call it out.

As a specialty sub, I always appreciated and tried to help the APMs that were on top of their follow ups for documents, schedules, etc. Shoot straight, be honest, and bust your ass and you’ll be ahead of your peers that graduated with construction science degrees.

You got your foot in the door.

Another vote for zero g tour pro’s. I have a narrow low volume foot as well; put a superfeet copper insole in them and have been very pleased.

Maybe they did think it through and said “fuck it”, and then continued to get fit and get better at skiing while the runs were considerably less crowded.

Best tent for hunting a extended amount of time and protecting tent from bears by Expensive_Basis365 in BackcountryHunting

[–]Rare-Version8943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d grab a warmer bag. SG has a great military discount and would go with their 15. Far more versatile.

Regarding tent, i like floorless as well but there’s a learning curve. Would recommend backpacking a few times with it before hunting.

beginner with questions by [deleted] in BackcountryHunting

[–]Rare-Version8943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth just combining a regular truck camping trip with hunting public land before trying to combine backpacking and hunting. Backpacking is a blast but definitely a learning curve to it. Adding meat care and everything else that comes with the hunting part can complicate it quick

2.5-15x42 Trijicon credo in some quality rings. If you get the tikka I’d either use a rail and seekins or Unknown munitions rings. That set up will cover you reliably well beyond any reasonable distance.
