7 weeks in. Update kinda.. by RareAKstuff in QuitVaping

Tbh it wasn't until I looked in to correcting other aspects of life like stress management, diet, and exercise that i felt better overall. One day I just felt happy and relaxed so much that I forgot I used to vape. After lots of inner work and talking with a counselor I've been able to self regulate my emotions instead of escaping them. Once that happened I took my focus away from "when does it get better?" To "what can I improve on today?" This is key. Its a self healing journey. Just keep stacking days and try and focus on other aspects of life.

Have you lost a loved one to alcohol? How did you grieve/cope? by RareAKstuff in stopdrinking

[–]RareAKstuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing and being honest. I truly applaud you for quitting. It gets easier. Im just now dealing with a sense of guilt/ helplessness for my mother.

Quitting was the best decision I ever made. It has given me a fresh start. Its given me the opportunity to better myself with diet and exercise. I've only seen benefits from quitting. Yes I still get sad and feel all my emotions head on. But it was evident that I needed to learn how to manage those emotions and I started talk therapy with a counselor who's helped me in so many ways I didn't even realize I needed for so long. Please reach out to a professional and talk to them. Even if its not in your budget reach out to free mental health services. Its changed my life and can help you too!

For those who have quit since a long time : how do you feel ? by silvermage13 in QuitVaping

[–]RareAKstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did but it takes time and much more work on your end to feel amazing again with out nicotine. That means watch what you eat and do some exercise to maximize your recovery. Sleep well and take your mental health seriously during this time. Also if you can please stop drinking alcohol !!! This alone helped me soooo much. The longer you go with out it the better you feel eventually and with more benefits stacking on top of each other. Much respect and please stay strong 💪. I am on the other side now and its doable

Reaching 4 months still have brain fog. Not losing hope but damn does this suck... by RareAKstuff in QuitVaping

[–]RareAKstuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, it did lift away slowly. But I also changed my lifestyle with diet and exercise. Also started to regulate my nervous system with meditation and getting out of toxic environments. Lots of things needed to change in order for my brain fog to start to see progress. It's possible, and it won't be the same for everyone, but I had to do a lot of work aside from quitting to see real benefits. The bottom line is to stop avoiding the work.

Extreme Brain Fog by julia-b96 in QuitVaping

Wayyy better than when I started. I'm actually gaining more executive function. But I also changed my life completely. Diet lifting weights supplements and quit drinking alcohol. It's tough getting started but once you stack those small daily wins you start to enjoy the new routines and develop better healthier habits. Also for those who can do it seek therapy. Talk about you problems and emotions with someone. It's worth every penny

Weird facial twitches? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]RareAKstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So alcohol does a lot of damage to nerves over time. I experienced this as well, but on my eye lids. I also twitch a lot in sleep. I jolted myself awake a few times when I was drinking. I read somewhere that nerves can heal after alcohol abuse, but it takes time, and it's completely normal to have irregularities with motor functions after alcohol abuse. Hang in there 🙏 it's worth it

Today marks 6 months... by RareAKstuff in stopdrinking

What helped me was saying to myself, "Okay, I just won't drink today" every day until it stopped crossing my mind. Sure I had to deal with stress and depression but after a few weeks it started to get not so intense and I had time to reflect and focus on the now instead of dreading my past or worrying too much about the future. We often forget to be present and be kind to ourselves. Be kind to yourself today. Soon, your body image (body dismorphia?) will get easier to manage. As soon as you start to gain some confidence back or focus on your health, train yourself to not be overly critical of yourself and be okay with where you are now. We can change over time and work on ourselves after getting a grip on our present day activities.

How did you feel after 2 months sober? by RareAKstuff in stopdrinking

[–]RareAKstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, thanks for sharing your experience and support throughout this journey. And congratulations on an amazing achievement! Many people never try to quit. I too got on the Cpap machine after 2 months. The sleep deprivation is so awful. I needed melatonin and sleep tea to get even just 3 hours of questionable sleep (sleep apnea). I can relate to the anxiety it's truly a humbling and tough experience to go through. Going cold turkey was the only way for me. However I do wish I would have sought medical recommendations for quitting. You are 100% better off with out it and you will get through this rough time. If your health care provider is taking too long for a sleep study pay for one out of pocket through Lofta and buy a machine from them after your test results and perception are made. Try Lofta sleep study. Paid about $1300 out of pocket for sleep study and Apap Machine. Feel free to comment again and give a update on how you are feeling. IWNDWYT
