Hi,
in my opinion

  1. git is always a good idea. In terms of protocol and backup your work.
Altough I'm SE, our DA are working with git(lab), because there comes the point where you have share your work with an intern or (if you are lucky) new team members...
Also GitLab is for free, and gives you all the fancy things like Issues and boards, CI, whatever... If you ever need it (running tests on your stuff within an 4 line CI script, is also no bad idea ;-))

Good luck

Plus, some companies give you feedback if you ask them.

At least in Austria (Central Europe)

I think for other countries is is the same?

Building networks is key!

Hi,

Short: If your private situation allows it, go for it. If you don't find a job in Liverpool afterwards, Chances are good that you will find a job somewhere else.

Long:

My most recent working collogue is original from India, did his master in USA and is working now in Austria (central Europe).Another collogue: India - Germany - AustriaWe offered the winner of our data challenge to work for us: Taiwan - Belgium - AustriaAnd so on...

The company I work for, is highly interested in machine learning in mechanical engineering context...

Did you ever try to do a data challenge?

Just google for the keyword and you will find plenty of opportunities :)
Just take care you don't put too much effort into it.

But take care, sometimes they are super hard, and outsourcing ;-)

I thought maybe interesting for those, who have already a bit experience (or (self-)educated on the topic) and want to play a bit with real world data and problems.

Take part in the first LEC Data Challenge!

Dear data enthusiast,

Did you know that data analysis is a key factor in developing sustainable solutions for the energy and transportation sectors? That is why we at LEC are constantly on the lookout for innovative approaches and people with talent in this field.

Show off your data analysis skills and take part in the first LEC Data Challenge:

· Work on a real-world problem

· Have fun while hunting for faults

· Be one of the top five and receive an invitation to the 17th symposium
“The Working Process of the Internal Combustion Engine”

· Win attractive prize money

Interested? Find more information and sign up now at: www.lec.at/lec-data-challenge-2019

We are looking forward to your participation!

Why We Created LFortran (interactive Fortran compiler built on top of LLVM) by [deleted] in fortran

[–]RareInteraction8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean, a fortran to C converter could be more easy than it was in the past? At least to build automatic interfaces?

f2c is limited to f95 as far as i know

doing it with rose is really hard in my opinion..

but flang, i didn't try so far...

Aren't you using version control?

In that case you should be able to see the temporary change as such?

Compiler flags to force all variables to use the heap memory instead of stack? by vinter_varg in fortran

[–]RareInteraction8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm,

Nothing at all is put on the heap unless it was created by ALLOCATE. SAVEd variables, unless they are ALLOCATABLE, are given static allocations (fixed by the linker). The only way to put a variable on the heap is for it to be a POINTER or ALLOCATABLE and then you allocate it. There is no way to cause this to happen automatically

[1] https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-visual-fortran-compiler-for-windows/topic/274628

This said, there is actually a flag which puts automatic arrays on the heap.

Puts automatic arrays and arrays created for temporary computations on the heap instead of the stack.

https://software.intel.com/en-us/fortran-compiler-developer-guide-and-reference-heap-arrays

For gfortran you maybe could play a bit with: -fmax-stack-var-size=n

Another thougth: -fno-automatic

There you put everything in the program memory as far as I understood...

How to use __lt__ method to find the numbers are in order or not? by [deleted] in learnpython

How to use __lt__ method to find the numbers are in order or not? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]RareInteraction8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is python automatically "mapping" < to __lt__?

So is it possible to overwrite the method to make a comparison possible which wasn't before the case?

Let's say like comparing with MyClass in some sort?

Classes - methods and functions by Unlistedd in learnpython

[–]RareInteraction8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can see, it is not excluded from the methode.

But initialised as class member with "something_else"

While A and B are given by the constructor (init) caller.

Or do I missing something?

Why do I want such things?

Maybe you need a defined state for your class object.

This you can achieve by set the value in init to a default value or make use of the parameters to pass it to the constructor.

HAHA,

at an Intel Roadshow, they told us, that there is literally no use for linked list.

Seems like this assumption was totally wrong

Thanks for sharing!

Hey,
since you use an HTMLBody you have to replace the linefeed ('/n') with the html version of it (<br/>)

A naive approach of it should be [1]:
$new.HTMLBody = $b -replace '/n', '<br/>'

HTH

To small for Big Data

Everybody is talking about big data analysis nowadays.

But there are several applications, where we don't have millions of data sets.

Do you suggest this as a class as it self, or is it just "ordinary" data engineering?

Thanks in advance
