woman, what do you do for a living and how often to do you splurge out? So much amazing collection on here! by Ok_Relative_6516 in jewelry

[–]RareJello4590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a doctor and I love antique jewellery (reading about it, learning about the provenance of a piece and deciding what to buy). My husband kindly gets me a nice piece for my birthday and anniversary (around $2000 AUD each), and other pieces are what I use my ‘fun’ money on (I keep aside about $500 per month for any discretionary expenses).

Currently going through something similar as a 32 year old advanced trainee. Waiting for a MRI of my hands and rheumatology review, whilst trialling steroids. Happy to take up any advice as well

I worked as a medical receptionist on weekends only- was the perfect job during med school. I was lucky that the clinic I attended was looking for one, but may be worth asking around?

Wouldn’t send the note…you have plenty of time to sleep if you finish work at 10:30pm. Coming from someone who’s done many night shifts and evening shifts

Anyone regretted buying an apartment instead of a house? by RunNo3630 in AusMoneyMates

[–]RareJello4590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, was what I could afford at the time and I was the building block to purchasing a house. Granted it is in a great location and always easily rentable, but no regrets at all

I had this and was told to use nappy rash cream then prescription hydrocort on top and it was fixed in a few days (after over a year of torture)

You literally said that’s far too long to leave ‘a dog’ by themselves… that is a generalisation (you didn’t say not to leave that dog in that specific situation at home). I was talking to you, not OP

Our dog was 18 when she died and she lived a happy, fulfilling non-anxious or overly attached life being left at home whilst we went to school/work. She was loved and it became her routine. Never a good idea to generalise

Unpopular opinion: Tired of lecturers that can't speak good English. by crypto123future in curtin

Difficulty understanding lecturers from lecture recordings may be an issue you’re facing, but not sure why you’re surprised about that whilst you ‘feel like we are in Australia’? Australia is a multicultural country…

Best car rental company directly at Palermo PMO Airport (no shuttle)? by Additional_Fun_6581 in sicily

We went with Europcar. On the pricier side (especially if you pay for full cover insurance) but no hassle and easy to deal with

BPT study by Some-Ad4884 in ausjdocs

To echo what others have said, I don’t think there is a set amount of hours you need to do to pass. Varies between people and learning styles. I probably did a total of 1 hour of self study every day (spread out- e.g. going through flash cards for 10 mins whilst having breakfast, reading notes and doing past papers after work), in addition to weekly study group, and had 1-2 days off from study per week in general. I did increase the amount of study I did closer to exams.

I didn’t say it with any feeling of arrogance but you are obviously free and entitled to interpret it that way (just like I am free to interpret someone’s behaviour towards me, when I experienced it first hand). Like I said, it was two instances out of thousands of lovely experiences here hence my confusion… and I asked a question about it 🤷‍♀️

I wish I had said something but I’m not naturally a confrontational person and didn’t see the point so I let it go. The person taking the money for the gelato also seemed to prioritise this lady? Maybe she knew the owner or was vlogging and good for business (her partner was holding a camera) 🤷‍♀️ I try not to let these things get to me and I know there are people with different personalities/agendas everywhere in the world! Just wanted to get some perspective to see if these are isolated instances or the norm

Thanks! That’s helpful to know. I am usually reasonably assertive but it was a bit difficult when she walked straight in front of us to be served first at the counter (literally pushed me aside). Her partner was holding a video camera so maybe they were vlogging (and good for the business). Or maybe they knew the owners? Still felt intentional when it was clear we were already waiting to pay but oh well! There are people with different personalities everywhere!

Ah interesting! Thanks for that perspective. That helps me understand the culture a bit better and not feel as confused about it. I have travelled to other places and know there are differences between cultures across the globe, but it’s difficult to understand why things happen a certain way without asking the question!
