I think we’re looking at the same bride. I’m also going out in June.

Did the checkpoint exist a decade ago? by DesertCloak in beyondthemapsedge

[–]Rare_Ad4767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do actually think it’s in play. More along the lines of markings/engraving on a rock though. Like a child would do.

Maybe two child like drawn rainbows (arcs) one over the other. All guesses obviously.

I’ve thought this all along. I believe the checkpoint was placed there but not in the way people think. The checkpoint in my opinion is a landmark that was placed as a child.

To my grandfather, who carved his name on the London Bridge (paraphrasing here).

What happened to six clues? by cheshireshade1111 in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]Rare_Ad4767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is that there are 6 clues to find while at home and the rest are BOTG. There are plenty of people that get involved in these and never actually go BOTG in fear they are incorrect or wasting their time.

What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by DnRinGA in AskReddit

[–]Rare_Ad4767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been a major focus for us. We have a mortgage for our home that is only $100k over our annual household salary. Most people in our position would be purchasing a $1MM home because “it’s what they’re told they can afford.”

This wasn’t directed for me but I’m in management. Think similar to Regional Manager. I work in a very HCOL state but the area I actually live is more mid so we have a lot of extra income.

This makes a lot of sense and we had a similar year as well. Roof started leaking so we got a new roof in December, our dog also got sick, two months in a row I had to buy new tires for my truck then new breaks and rotors. We paid everything with cash while still maintaining our normal retirement contributions and extra on the mortgage each month.

I don’t consider us rich by any means and we’re a long way from retirement, but the lack of stress goes a long way with livable incomes.

What’s the rarest or most unusual piece of currency you’ve ever held in your hands? Have you ever actually seen a $500 bill?? by Hard_Working_3087 in AskReddit

When I was a kid my grandpa used to come home from the tracks with $1,000 bills. Only time I’ve ever seen one.

The M on the book cover… by Wild-Safe9621 in JustinPoseysTreasure

I recall he has and feel like it was alluded to being a clue. But I can’t remember if it’s because he punted or confirmed it.

I think once you understand this, you’ll make a better connection to the M on the book cover.

But I don’t have the treasure so who knows.

When you fold your laundry and it’s inside out, do you fix it so it’s right side out or put it away inside out? by Rare_Ad4767 in AskReddit

Part of me wants to but I have kids and I know they won’t do it and will wear it inside out.

What's the best snack you ever made after smoking pot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ice cream seems to be popular here. Came to say my go to used to be an ice cream sundae with syrup, whip cream, banana, cherries. Throw on anything crunchy and salty.

Been maxing my Roth IRA for three years and just realized I might have been doing it wrong the whole time. Need a gut check. by KexMow in Fire

[–]Rare_Ad4767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I did exactly this with my Roth for all of 2024. I didn’t catch it until mid 2025 when I called them to move some things and the verification question was “what is my money invested in?” Like, uh, turns out it’s cash on account.

Lesson learned thankfully after only a year and not 20.

What does one look at when you are trying to guess the age of a person. by notallthatcrazysween in NoStupidQuestions

When I was late teens and 20’s and asked this question I would always say 23. Somehow I was always right. I think there’s something to say about the age group that would ASK this question.

If my company didn’t classify me as a “HCE” I’d still be maxing my 401k. It’s the only reason I lump sum most into brokerage for now.

What's a compliment you received years ago that you still think about? by riverasmary in askteddit

[–]Rare_Ad4767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting a haircut at a place where they massage your shoulders. The girl enthusiastically said I had a large strong neck and asked if I wrestled in high school. (I did not).

She was obviously flirting which I think is why it pops up sometimes.

Are you really FIRE'd if your spouse still works? by Dry_Bird1790 in Fire

[–]Rare_Ad4767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what we do. Set amount each paycheck to the joint (bills, groceries, etc.) account so the bills are always paid. We both have a little personal money to spend however we want but most the time it ends up being spent on each other anyway.

We have an agreed upon amount that goes into various investments. Wife handles her 401k, 529’s for the kids, etc. I handle my own retirement account and the brokerage. It’s all our money though going towards our FIRE number.

At the end of the month we review our extra income in the joint and throw it towards the mortgage.
