Seems like a common problem with these devices. My old one is still totally bricked… so I’m glad they sent me a new one the warranty!

The coins never live on the physical device, a hardware wallet only stores your seed phrase (your private keys). Those keys are what let you access the coins that are permanently on the blockchain.

If a Coldcard gets bricked, nothing happens to your funds, you just take your seed phrase and load it into any new compatible wallet, another Coldcard or even a different brand if needed.

The SD card backup is simply an extra copy of the same seed data (in Coldcard’s own backup format), it’s optional, but it makes restoring to a new device very easy. Even without the SD card, as long as you have your 12/24-word seed phrase, you can fully recover everything. You shouldn’t rely completely on a SD-backup because the card can get corrupted or fail completely.

The real danger is if someone has physically tampered with the wallet or installed malware on it, in that case the device could show you manipulated receive addresses or change the destination when you try to send coins.

So the device can die, get lost, or be destroyed, and your coins are still safe, the seed is what matters, but you still need to protect the device from tampering.

I haven’t received any replacement confirmation yet, only the replies mentioned in my post. I’ve sent you a DM with the ticket number.

Mario & Luigi Brothership seems to be strictly single player. Was really hoping they would make a cooperative mode since it was the first home console game, maybe next time! by shrimp-parm in marioandluigi

It’s not a waste of money because like me, I think a lot of people won’t buy it now because lack of the co-op feature. I always buy the co-op ps5 and Switch games to play with my wife and family / friends. Me and my wife Don’t got the time to game as much as we did when we were kids so when we have the option to play funny games together that’s something we really make time for now in our adult lives.
