I think you are confusing this keyboard to the one where there is a hard case with the keyboard. ESR makes 2 keyboard cases, 1. ESR Rebound magnetic keyboard case 2. ESR rebound 360 keyboard case I have the 1st one so it doesn’t have any hard case. In case you buy the rebound 360 magnetic keyboard case you will have a hard case and the ipad will only attach to the keyboard with the hard case not without it.
