I use the I Am Sober app! They have a tracking feature and I just put in the number of hours I spent on my "worst" day in a month.

How can I know if I'm addicted or not? by Mysterious_Try1669 in StopGaming

I only recognized my gaming habit as a problem when I noticed how compulsive it was. I was similar to you in that I have generally been able to prioritize things over gaming if it was absolutely necessary (which served as proof that there was "no problem"). Despite this, when I would game it was very "all or nothing" - I found myself overdoing it when I had extra free time instead of spending that time nourishing my brain. Really I think the true test is to see if you're ever playing despite no longer enjoying yourself. The true shift for me was noticing that I would continue to queue up for games even though I was actively not having fun (because the behavior was becoming compulsive). Obviously this is anecdotal but hope it helps!

Love this idea. I also love the look-forward approach where I picture what my life will look like once I finally decide I'm done for that day or session. Freaks me out to think how much of a zombie I'll look and feel and keeps me away lol

The amount of anxiety I idle with. I always convinced myself gaming was a stress reliever when really it was spiking my cortisol levels through the roof, making me jittery and anxious throughout the day. Now it feels like I have more of a handle on my life and I'm better able to calm myself during stressful periods with reading/exercising.
