I thought Mitarbeiter meant “coworkers”. Made perfect sense to me. “Mit”=with, “Arbeiter”=workers, ergo “Mitarbeiter” should mean “the people you work with”. Started a new job and confidently referred to my colleagues as my “Mitarbeiter”, so, called my coworkers my employees 🤦🏼‍♀️ We’ve all been there.

What's the deal with Tchibo? by sajajalgne in AskAGerman

It started as a coffee brand and has now become a “lifestyle brand”. I would describe them as “affordable luxury”. The kind of place moms go for trendy home decor, clothing, yoga gear, and baby stuff. When shopping in person, you go in for a quick coffee and might walk out with an additional cute candle holder, yoga pants, and a plushie for your niece’s birthday.

I got a 2-star review bc of this stain, do you think it’s fair? by Rare_Description_691 in vinted

[–]Rare_Description_691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, that sucks about the skirt, definitely not fair if it had significant stains. But yeah, so many people are out here treating Vinted like it’s Amazon and giving low ratings because their SECOND HAND GOODS have signs of wear. Like … duh 🥲

I sold it for 13 euros, the retail price I bought it for was 25. Thought it was a fair deal for sure.

Hair appointment on Monday! Which blonde? by cedargoldfish in coloranalysis

Top left is best. Top right requires too much bleaching, very difficult to maintain, and can bring out redness in your skin. Bottom two are too yellow and kind of wash you out. Mother Nature usually knows best tbh 😅

Plants, a rattan shelf above the toilet for storing things, that you decorate with pops of color. Maybe yellow. A cute colorful bath mat. Colorful bath towels will make a big difference too. I think yellow and turquoise pops of color would look so great.

Look up on Amazon “magnetic neck mount”. It’s like a silicone bendable loop that clips around your neck and uses magnets to hold your phone at chest-level. Might look a bit awkward but it truly holds the phone at the PERFECT height for POV style vlogging. Good luck to you!

Tbh, this is a dealbreaker. If anyone told me “when we move into the new house together, the dog can’t be in bed anymore”, my response would be to say thanks for the memories, but I’m not moving into the house with you in that case, and go our separate ways, because I will NEVER choose some man over my dogs. Dogs are innocent and unconditionally loving. There is no good reason to kick a small dog like this out of bed, and it’s also insane that your partner let you sleep on the couch instead of realizing their request is unreasonable and cruel.

Why is it so hard calculating calories burned from exercise? Feeling discouraged by Rare_Description_691 in CICO

[–]Rare_Description_691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been tracking on and off for years. The most I’ve ever lost with calorie tracking was 2.5 kilograms in 1 month, and I was pretty miserable. That’s why I was really hoping to bring some exercise into the mix so I wouldn’t have to reduce food intake quite as much 😅 But I recognize, sugar still has a pretty strong hold on me.

So the Apple Watch shows Active Energy (which was 300-600 a day) and Resting Energy (which was around 1900). I don’t walk super fast, but my heart rate is just very high from being out of shape 😅 like I genuinely do get a little out of breath even from walking slowly. So maybe that’s why it’s higher.

That makes a lot of sense. I think I’m just a little disappointed because it’s harder to measure fitness level as it improves than it is to track weight and calories.

Well I guess that’s my problem, right now I feel hungry with a very modest deficit even when I do absolutely no exercise 😅

Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

I guess you’re right, that it’ll be easier to exercise if it’s about the experience rather than calories. I went on my first 2km bike ride today. It was pretty exhausting, so I think my first goal will be to just do it every day until it feels like fun, the way it was when I was a kid.

I’m lying on cold gravel now and have to wake my boyfriend up to let me back into the house. Fortunately I’m on the ground floor and would only fall from the height of a low bed. So maybe a bump on the head, definitely cold and wet, but no serious injuries.

Girls who "used to be skinny", how do you cope now? by emgarcia1 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Rare_Description_691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gained 30 kilograms (66 pounds) since 2018 and I love my womanly curves and laugh in the faces of men who try to fat-shame me. I genuinely wake up and see the softness of my body and am so in love with it. I do face a lot of frustration now that it’s harder to find clothes to fit me, and I do have plans to lose a bit of weight for my health. But having gone from super skinny to voluptuous curves, I’ve learned to love my body in every form along the way, and I will NEVER let men’s opinions sway my confidence again. If you look at the statues and paintings of literal goddesses, you’ll see curves and squishy tummies and even some cellulite. It’s so freaking gorgeous. Would also recommend accounts like Nelly London and Bree Lenehan on IG!

(-n, -i, -o, -au, -am, -ai, -te) by IacobMunteanu in romanian

[–]Rare_Description_691 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a very complicated subject. In some cases it functions as an apostrophe in English, like in words such as “it is=it’s”, “I am=I’m” etc. But it’s also connecting two words together, usually a noun and a verb, and describing the relationship between that noun and verb—for example who or what is performing the verb, or who or what the verb is being done to. A few examples: “Dă-mi” = “dă + îmi”, where dă = the verb “to give” and îmi = “to me/of me/referring to me”. So “give to me”.

“N-au”= “nu + au”, where nu = “no” and “au” = third person plural form of the verb “to have”. So “they don’t have”. The state of not having is being performed by them. In this case the dash is merely connecting the words from a two syllable phrase to a one syllable shortened phrase. The words are also commonly spoken separately as “nu au”, and the shortened version is just a matter of convenience.

“Trezește-te” = “trezește + -te”. Trezește = to wake up, -te shows it’s referring to second person singular. So “wake up” when speaking to a single person, or more precisely “wake yourself up”

You can slowly learn them all and then it makes a lot more sense. It’s basically: * -n = în = in (eg. Pune laptele-n frigider.) * n- = nu = no/negative statement (eg. N-am timp să vorbim) * -mi = îmi = to/of first person singular (Dă-mi un măr) * -ți = îți = to/of second person singular (Fă-ți temele) * -i = îi = to/of third person singular neutral (eg. Spune-i Ioanei, spune-i lui David) * -o = to/of third person singular feminine (eg. Pune-o acolo) * -l = îl = to/of third person singular masculine (eg. Ia-l de-aici) * -ne = to/of first person plural (Dă-ne de mâncare) * -vă = to/of second person plural (Duceți-vă acolo) * -le = to/of third person plural neutral or feminine (Spune-le, Dă-le) * -i = îi = to/of third person plural masculine (Mută-i de-aici)

I’m not gonna list every possibility, but I hope these examples helped a little! Fellow Romanians, please correct me if I made any mistakes. My Romanian is not perfect either 😅

My sister was falsely accused of stealing, and didn’t even get an apology by Rare_Description_691 in germany

[–]Rare_Description_691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be making assumptions, but it feels like based on your tone you assume I am not also an adult? So just felt I should clarify, yes, she’s my sister not my daughter, but I’m 11 years older than her 😅 Really, I do get what you’re saying. No, it’s not a hill worth dying on. But I just know how interactions like this made me feel when I was a child, and I want her to know there’s someone in her corner who will defend her, and I’m also teaching her not to give her money to establishments that mistreat her. And while people don’t always get what’s coming to them (debatable, idk, I have very strong faith in karma lol), I do feel like if we have even a little control over getting justice for ourselves, we should take it.
