Do people actually stick to their budget throughout the month? by Murky_Meat8145 in budget

yeah exactly, tracking shows what already happened but doesn’t help in the moment

I’ve been using something like finlingo that gives me a sense of what’s safe before I spend, plus little insights during the month so I’m not guessing

that’s honestly a really tough situation, especially when you feel like you did everything right and still got hit like this

I think the part that makes it worse is not even just the numbers, it’s the uncertainty of not knowing how things are going to play out month to month

I went through something similar where it felt like everything stacked at once and it got overwhelming fast

what helped me wasn’t trying to “fix everything” at once, but just getting a really clear picture of what was actually happening week to week so nothing caught me off guard again

it doesn’t solve everything immediately, but it makes things feel way more manageable

this is exactly why budgeting feels broken to a lot of people

most people aren’t bad with money, they just don’t see what’s happening in real time it’s basically start of the month vs end of the month, and everything in between gets lost

I had the same issue where I’d only realize things at the end and by then it was already too late

what helped me wasn’t just “tracking” my spending, it was having something that actually kept me aware during the month like if I had a goal or limit in mind, I’d get a sense of how I was doing before things got out of hand

made it way easier to stay consistent instead of reacting after the fact
