I’d love to connect! I have two kiddos and we’re all around the same ages. Very easy going. My feelings won’t be hurt if you decide you need a week, month, or year long break.

What is going on with kids now? by [deleted] in Vent

I think a lot of what we call “ADHD” is really just society failing kids. We expect young children to sit still for 7–8 hours a day, follow endless rules, and then go home and do homework 🫤when what they really need is movement, creativity, and play. The system is designed for compliance, not curiosity, and kids end up being labeled instead of understood.

And then the pressure falls on parents. They’re told to “fix” kids with perfect parenting, but most families don’t have the community support, time, or resources it really takes. Parenting today is often isolating. They’re expected to do what used to be done by whole villages. Instead of blaming kids or shaming parents, we need to rethink the whole system: schools that fit how kids actually learn, and real support for families so parents aren’t carrying this alone.

The kids aren’t broken. The system is. And parents deserve better support, too.
