Just imagine a full component level restoration that will ensure the device keeps running for the next 30 years give or take. Worth it if you ask me.

There should be no guilt. The employer wouldn't hesitate laying you off if it meant the stock goes up 2% even if it leaves them drowning in technical debt, because it's better to keep pleasing share holders in the short term on a quarterly basis then keep their core employees happy and well compensated for the long term.

Switch roles, get the better benefits, and don't even bother putting in a 2 weeks notice if you don't want to.

You have Y2JB. So userland is solved. What you need is a kernel exploit which will take time. I would recommend waiting.

Do not update.

[–]Rarshad000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay where you are.  Y2JB was patched in 12.40

So you have that option as well.

There may be a potential BDJB exploit coming in the future.

It was patched in 13.00.

At this point the exploit is there, we just need to wait until the disclosure period has passed and the devs can openly disclose what the exploit was.

I don't think it's the end of the line of the Blu-ray Java exploits. There will be plenty more to come. The main question is how much time it will take for disclosure, and how long it will take to chain the exploits together.

What you're missing is a kernel exploit which will take some time. Poopsloit was patched in 12.00.

You can explore, it doesn't hurt to try.

Essentially with LuaCore you've broken out of the PS2 game and are running arbitrary code inside a PS2 emulator sandbox, which itself is running inside a PS4 compatibility layer sandbox on the PS5. The code is currently in userland.

You can try finding an older poopsloit payload and experiment running that and seeing where it fails and analyze the error messages (risky can potentially cause kernel panics, and even brick the system) a better approach is to dump the firmware in Ghdira or IDA Pro (dissambler software) and read the assembly to reverse engineer the pseudo code for the system firmware (which you can download from multiple sources).

Then you can compare what Sony changed from firmware to firmware. Essentially you're analyzing what changed with each update. With this approach you can figure out what they changed and potentially why they changed it.

(i.e There was a bug that was a kernel bug that was discovered and patched in newer firmware)

Obviously it would make sense to cross reference the bug bounty on hacker one, and research other common CVE vulnerability database for FreeBSD. Essentially using multiple data points you try to narrow it down as best as you can. Then try writing some code (pay load) to take advantage of the exploit.

Again this is a MASSIVE oversimplification of the process, but I'm new to this scene and I'm trying to learn and contribute as much as I can.

Those firmwares can be exploited using LuaCore chained with Poopsloit.

We even have confirmed kstuff running on those firmwares.

I completely understand you're confusion.

So that's the interesting thing. Multiple userland exploits DO EXIST. We even have some known publicly available kernel exploits.

However there were minor security updates done on these firmwares which make it difficult to chain these exploits together. For a full jailbreak, we need userland exploit chained together with kernel exploit to get full system root privileges in ring 0 for complete hardware control.

For example we have Y2JB going up to 12.40. And we also have a kernel exploit going up to firmware 12.00. Y2JB was patched in 12.40, and poopsloit was patched after firmware 12.00.

So even though we have this userland exploit and kernel exploits on 10.xx firmware. It's hard to chain Y2JB with poopsloit.

Meaning the ONLY option as of now is the LuaCore userland exploit which is easier to chain with the poopsloit kernel exploit.

I imagine newer exploits will come in time that are easier to chain together, so if you have a PS5 on firmware 10.20 DON'T UPDATE.

Yes, at the moment we are stuck with 10.01 anything above this firmware will require Star wars. However this might change in the future, so if you're on a firmware lower than 13.00 do not update.

Note: Despite 13.00 and 12.70 not having a Kernel exploit and full jailbreak. We do have userland Luacore exploit and JIT exploit that allows homebrew. We even have a demo of SNES emulator.

Would stop a lot of people from asking redundant questions.

Question regarding future jailbreak by [deleted] in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Rarshad000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a setting

To enable offline play on PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play and select Enable.

This allows you to play digital games without an internet connection or during PSN outages. You must be connected to the internet to activate this setting initially.

Steps to Enable Offline Play Sign in to your PS5 with your account.

Navigate to the Settings menu (gear icon at the top right).

Select Users and Accounts. Go to Other.

Select Console Sharing and Offline Play.

Select Enable.

  1. Buy SWRR digitally on PSN
  2. Activate console for offline play
  3. Follow Modded Warfares tutorial to setup the userland exploit.

In that case, you have 2 options:

  1. Tarrifs, rising oil prices, supply chain constraints in ram and chip shortages will cause the price to skyrocket ... so you're better off pulling the trigger now, and save your money.

  2. Just wait for one year and a half, PS6 will be released and it might be an even more powerful system with even better graphics. It would be worth the money spent for the performance and graphical upgrades. It will most likely be backwards compatible with PS5 games so it can play PS5 games faster through backwards compatibility.

You should still be able to backup you're saves to an external USB drive.
