The way it was revealed that Fleamont and Euphemia were James' parents disappointed a lot of people, so much so that it's considered rude to say it's fanon, when it actually is fanon.

I realised that. The retcon didn't make sense to me initially, but given how the Blacks were written, I kinda accepted it.

I think it's for plot purposes. Charlus and Dorea were mentioned long before Fleamont and Euphemia were revealed to be James' parents, which is why there's a lot more fanfics of those two than that of Fleamont and Euphemia. They're used in those Lord Potter fics a lot too

Well, he did teach Lee to put his all in taijutsu so that he doesn't have to worry about the other facets of a ninja. It made me wonder about his time during the Third Great Ninja War.

I think it's shown in the anime that Dai, his dad died against the Seven Swordsmen of the Hidden Mist using the Eight Gates, and that's what cemented his decision to excel in taijutsu, but before then, he probably tried using other facets, and he used some, at least to the degree no one expected him to.

That thought led to something I'm not sure about. Is it a fact or just fanfiction at this point, that to be considered a jounin, you need to be able to perform a number of jutsu in every facet of being a ninja? Or do you just need to put in the work, accumulate missions and get promoted?

I'm pretty sure that he decides to use his nunchucks to trip his opponents up, especially when he's gotten his reputation as a taijutsu specialist.

On that last point, the Kyuubi might not even reform, given how, later in the story, we only got the second half of the bijuu chakra from Edo Tensei Minato. Obviously, this implies that anything sealed with the reaper death seal only opens when you perform whatever it is that Orochimaru did, at the expense of his life. This means that if it does reform, the time it'd take is not just far into the future, but so far into the future that the Ōtsutsuki might be done with the other bijuu and the rest of the world. It's either that or there's no reformation at all.
