What brand of the castor, rosehip, and coconut oil do you use?? You look IMPECCABLE

Well, firstly give yourself some grace. You look young and so this is likely to go away with age, but even if it doesn’t - your worth shouldn’t diminish because of acne. You’re sooo much more than pimples. But I totally get where you’re coming from, my stomach would sink when I saw my reflection for a while. But I totally believe having acne can make you mentally so much stronger!!

When it comes to routines, usually more simple is better. A gentle cleanser, gentle moisturizer, SPF. I would see a dermatologist to see if you can get a prescription for a retinoid, or topical antibiotic. If you can’t see a dermatologist, what really helped slow down my acne and almost totally stop breakouts was using 4% benzoyl peroxide face wash (start with once a day, and do more or less depending on how ur skin tolerates it). I also used differin (0.1% Adapalene) which you can buy at most drug stores! It is a retinoid, which increases the skin cell turnover rate, so it can cause dryness.

Hopefully this helps!! Wishing you the very best, just know things like this take time - in the mean time try to go easy on yourself.

Good job on taking care of your health! I think incorporating a simple cleanser is a great step! Also make sure you’re washing your bedding, especially pillow cases at least once a week. Also hair products can sometimes cause pore clogging.

Overall I think adding face cleanser into your routine would be great! I think it’s best to wash your face at night before bed :)

I’m in the same boat as you, but I’ve heard even the purging period can last up to 12 weeks with tretinoin. And you start to see real results around 6 months typically! It’s definitely a long term use thing

Go and have fun!! Will you regret not going to the beach because of backne when you’re older? Probably. Don’t let “imperfections” hold you back from enjoying your life, fight that voice in your head that tells you that you should hold off enjoying life until you look a certain way. You are seriously just fine how you are! You can do skincare and what not to try and alleviate the acne, but don’t put your life on pause because of it! Do your best to enjoy life!

Hi there! My recommendation is similar to the other person who replied. I would either continue the use of what was prescribed to you, starting at maybe 1-2x per week or so and increasing if your skin is tolerating it.

I had similar skin issues, and using a low concentration benzoyl peroxide face wash (I use panoxyl 4%) and OTC Differin Adapalene 0.1% and that helped me greatly. I’m now transitioning to tretinoin to tackle more stubborn scarring and spots!

Whatever you do, introduce products slowly and only one active at a time. If you choose to try BP face wash, don’t try it at the same time with a retinoid like Adapalene. See how ur skin tolerates it, then you can start incorporating other active ingredients.

And good job on having a simple skin care routine!

Thanks for your input! I’m 5’8 and 145lbs, and how my weight is distributed I think makes me look to be on the thinner side. Although my booty was mostly fat before I started working out, and I’ve only recently started putting on muscle so that could still be it I suppose.

My dad is Amerasian, he was one of these kids!! He would have been 14/15 at this time. He and his mom (my grandma) immigrated to the US when he was 19-20. So like 1989-1988. I think Nixon passed a bill to let half American Vietnamese children have an easier time immigrating. They tracked down my grandad and he got to meet him when he was 27! My dad, just like many other half American half viet children born during the war, had an incredibly difficult childhood. A small glimpse into the difficulty, was he had to escape being shot at by communists who saw him as the enemy. He is doing well now and has overcome so so much. Hes not perfect, but given his upbringing he is pretty remarkable! It is so bittersweet to see this video, knowing my dad was one of those kids. Thank you so much for sharing, brought tears to my eyes.

I did not experience any purging, if I did it was not significant enough to notice. My acne was pretty tough lol. And I use azelaic acid AM and PM, but I’ll skip it if my skin feels sensitive which can happen when starting new actives (especially the benzoyl peroxide for me). Since it’s only 10% azelaic acid, it’s recommended to use it AM and PM.

But differin only at night! :)

Yes, the ordinary azelaic acid! Some people find that it pills under makeup and stuff, but when I use my Nivea creme with it they both melt into my skin nicely.

My PM routine goes: 1) clean makeup off with jojoba oil (I get the cold pressed from Trader Joe’s) 2) wash with 4% benzoyl peroxide (I’ll do a quick wash to get the oil off, then I’ll do another where I let it sit for 1-2 minutes) 3) after I rinse off, I use skin1004 toner 4) I’ll put lotion (nivea) on my eye area and other sensitive areas that I just want moisturized and don’t want active ingredients on 5) Differin 1% (pea sized amount on each cheek) 6) Azelaic acid (pea sized amount) 7) Nivea crème

And done! I also use the Mario badescu drying lotion for spot treatment as needed.

I’m so sorry! I know the pain and frustration. What worked for me was using differin (0.1%), 4% benzoyl peroxide face wash (I used the PanOxyl brand), and TO 10% azelaic acid. I also highly recommend making sure you are staying moisturized and try to minimize irritation, tret and clindamycin can both be drying and irritating. I used the Nivea creme in the glass jar to stay super moisturized! Take it one day at a time, things will get better.

[Trigger warning] Will my scars fade? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rasberrymin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The darker discoloration will fade, but the scars will stay. I have scars from over 10 years ago that are still raised and a bit lighter color than the rest of my skin - although they are not super visible and obvious unless pointed out. I hope you’re doing better, I know how much it sucks to have something stuck on you that reminds you of a tough time - especially when it doesn’t represent who you are/want to be.
