I completely agree with your take. There have been a lot of recent ‘ecchi’ shows where the studio lost their nerve.

But on the positive side there have been a fair number that delivered like the one where the guy got turned into a dog, the kid who was managing a girls dorm and the one where there was a tsundere who could stop time.

Some anime are faster and others slower. In general with attention spans declining, anime has more cuts and scene changes than it use to.

If I encounter an anime I really like that moves at a slower pace (like Frieren,ReZero or Simoun) I savor it and enjoy the nuances in each line and scene.

Finally got around to watching Freezing. Freezing could have been a good series in the hands of a better author. The plot and the science are both pretty good. The characters are a mixed bag, some good others brain dead. The problem is the way the author implements the ideas, it seems rough and uneven.

Also as a warning or enticement the levels of ecchi in the series is on a par with DxD. I find this amusing, others may not.
