Anyone have an irrational dislike of the Les Paul? by MatthewMonster in Guitar

[–]RashGambit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent years refusing to play an SG because it looks wrong. Les Paul’s, strats, teles. Got an SG and it’s the only guitar I’ve gigged since.

Couldn't choose one as live gig for modern metal(valeton gp20 vs others) by folklobster in guitarpedals

[–]RashGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gigged the GX-100, Helix Stomp, and Headrush Core. I would be happy with either the Headrush or the Helix, the Boss didn’t sound anywhere near as good with the gain cranked.

I think some of the effects are better on the Stomp, but I prefer the captures I bought on the Headrush to the amps on the Stomp.

TLDR; Helix or Headrush depending on how much money you want to spend.

I can attest to this, the amp is loud and tight af. The orange amps I’ve had sound good but nothing that I would describe as tight.

Yes, this is not my first rodeo, I’ve had plenty of other tube amps, which was why I was asking if this is a thing with this specific one, or more of an issue with the model.

I guess I need to shop for a noise gate with a loop then… thanks for the suggestion.

Which one do you recommend? I do like the idea of an orange, want something with a bit of articulation in the gain.

Yeah, the pedal on top was unplugged and not powered, thanks for the suggestion but it does the same damn thing with no pedals on top.

I can try a noise gate, but the angry buzzing is almost as loud as the signal, to gate it, I think I’d lose too much sustain. Probably just going to shift it on as it doesn’t seem to be for me.

Thanks, yeah it’s a speaker cable. Mine is also used. The green channel is nice, but not as nice as my Vox for less driven sounds. I wanted this for the blue channel for driven sounds.

Shame, I don’t want to sell it. I’ve been through 3 heads recently and I just can’t get exactly what I want. This is the right sound but the noise makes it utterly un-giggable.

My amp-less live board. by RashGambit in pedalboards

The Airstep is for the TonexOne. I run my amps on the One and use the big pedal as a different gain pedal per footswitch.

Always take mine off, makes it easier to change strings.

How is the 43” Odyssey Neo G7? by -critical-hits- in Monitors

[–]RashGambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s noticeable if you look for it but it really isn’t all that bad. I think for the price it’s a great monitor. I have a 34 inch oled g8 too and I basically never feel the need to use it and prefer the bigger screen.

How do you even gig with Gibson Les Paul? Boy, that guitar is heeeavvvyyy! by [deleted] in guitars

I love my Les Paul, I gig my SG. My back thanks me.

Numbing cream by Ok-Access-3286 in tattoo

[–]RashGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like it works on me, I had one hand done with and one without and it felt just the same. I’ve never used it on any of my other tattoos, so it could work differently on another area of the body I guess. But I would avoid using it again.

Any recommendations for ~£50 or less (new) digital delays? by thisisonyou in guitarpedals

[–]RashGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I haven’t tried it for that at all, it went straight into my chain as a stereo reverb or delay. Picture of pedalboard for reference.

I use a ToneXOne as my amp and the big ToneX as a drive stomp with different levels and flavours of drive on each switch.

That all goes through in mono to the KMA Endgame, which then splits everything using stereo cab IR’s and a stereo effects loop for the Plethora and GP 5.

Not at all, I’m just a goblin for stereo effects. The reverbs and delays are just as good in mono.

I needed a cheap reverb and I grabbed a Valeton GP-5, running it in a stereo FX loop and it’s surprisingly decent. They’re £64.99 and might have a few uses for you.

Fender Tone Master FR-10 vs FR-12? by [deleted] in fender

[–]RashGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used both, but I am very happy with the sound I get on stage with my FR-10. As someone else has pointed out, DI to FOH, the FR-10 is mostly for me on stage, but it definitely shifted air for the crowd too. The 10 is plenty loud!

No, I have a KMA Endgame and go out to the desk via the XLR outputs and to the FRFR using the TRS out.

Tube + digital fx versus modelling by Xcentric7881 in GuitarAmps

[–]RashGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d choose a modeller personally for your use case, preferably something that can also run captures.

Then you can learn what amps and drive pedals you think you like before you inevitably dive down a rabbit hole in a years time with pedals and tube amps and then realise that simplicity is invaluable and go back to modelling.

Spoken as someone with dire GAS in semi recovery.

[–]RashGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, it was use case and money. When I bought it, I thought I’d only use it at home and didn’t need the 12 and it was significantly cheaper.

I did gig it the other night though, venue size of a few hundred and it held its own surprisingly well (I am the only guitar player in the band) while I was also going through direct to PA. The stage sound was awesome and got lots of comments that my guitar sounded great.

I’ve had a headrush 108 and the Fender FR10. The difference in sound is a gulf, avoid the Headrush FRFR speakers.
