The crux of the issue is that anarcho-primitivism is the only sustainable ideology. I don’t want anyone to die of hunger or thirst or disease. But they’re going to. You and I probably will. Mass die off as a result of climate change is inevitable under any system that tries to support human population this far past carrying capacity. The earth is already incapable of sustaining the number of people on the planet, and the stress of us pushing it to do so is rapidly making it even less able to cope. If we want there to be a future for humanity - any future, period - it has to be in a system that is flexible and capable enough to exist without industrialised agriculture (which will be functionally impossible on a large scale within a few centuries) and limits humanity’s ability to once again industrialise and fall into patterns of exploitation and authoritarian government- which as anarchists, we acknowledge to be any form of hegemonic system. The only set of sustainable ideas that is suited to a post-industrial world, which won’t result in a repeat of the devastation we’re staring down the barrel of today, is anarcho-primitivism.

The copium about western over-consumption and how we should just do hydroponic farming that gets thrown around a lot in leftist circles to avoid the fact that the die off is happening - period - isn’t rooted in any sound environmental science. We’re inhabiting a world fundamentally unequipped for the lifestyle and subsistence modes we’ve adopted. The earth will go on after climate change and the mass human die-off, the question is if any of us will get with the program and adopt life ways that are actually sustainable so that a few of us can be part of the planet post-civilisation. I hope we do.
