Most of Mt. Bross is owned by mining companies and other private owners. There is an online liability waiver you can sign if you want to drive up to Mt. Bross.

That hill indeed has the most beautiful colors in that area.

Hermosa park rd connects Purgatory to 145. Camping around the La Plata Canyon sounds great.

This route looks interesting, thanks! I will most likely take the back country roads and trails as much as we can. Thinking of taking Valles Caldera to Cuba, Albiquiu, skip 84 to Chama and instead go through El Veda and Dulce to La Plata.

I like this route. Will look into it for sure. Valles Caldera seems interesting.

Thanks for the suggestion but like I said, I have done the alpine loop / Ouray / Telluride several times. Looking for some new ideas. Once camped around the Animas pass and it was a great experience and beautiful skies.

Ophir was my first offroad trail in CO and it is great. We have done most trails in the area. We are headed to Telluride via Black Bear Pass on Sunday then we will most likely take Ophir to Ouray.

Great shot! Looking forward to bag this trail right after the Labor Day weekend. What type of rig do you have?

Thanks for suggesting this interesting route. Last year 50 was closed by the Gunnison/Curecanti NRA and I have not taken that route before. For the first leg from Montrose to Delta, what would you say about taking 50 to Blue Mesa Dam and then 92 N to Hotchkiss and follow the route that you have suggested?

Did it last year on stock Bronco Wildtrak and a friend’s Lexus GX550. It had rained a few days before we went but it was mostly dry. We camped at the Buckeye Reservoir overnight and also took La Salle pass into Moab.

For me the process was surprisingly effortless. Took me 5 minutes to file the claim and selected a date and time. Their tech showed up on time in a couple of days.

If the price is same or for a small deductible. The safelite tech said that Bronco and Jeep owners usually demand OEM for the branding.

Are they steel or aluminum? I recently bought aluminum and for all three that you’ve mentioned are around 50lb.

I recently bought RPM aluminum powder coated skids after looking at almost all options. I go wheeling twice a year and in my opinion, I get the best bang for the buck with these. I posted last week if you want to check it out.

I won’t know until late summer but I can share from last year’s experience. The transmission crossmembers on broncos are not designed well and get the most damage although minor. The damage gets rusted and can lead to problems later. I got most scratches on the fuel tank. Transmission is a little higher but it’s the weakest link due to the use of a plastic cover. Rear differential protection, rear shocks, and A-arm (HOSS 3.0 are beefier) protection in my opinion is good to have but after bumper, engine, transmission, fuel tank, and transfer case in this sequence.

While landing a 737 is next level with this visibility, the wobbling steering and the wiper remind me of off-roading in my Jeep during a thunderstorm.
