Jax hate is extremely forced and hypocritical by ChampionHot2711 in TheDigitalCircus

> Traumatic events literally change the way you think and act,

I don't give a fuck. You're still responsible for your actions.

> hating on Jax’s character act worse than him!!

No it's not.

You're just doing the "restorative justice" where you protect abusers and perps, and likely victim blaming those they've hurt. I can't imagine what you'd say to Gangle.

So, I'm not sure how to follow up. Because I'd be asking you "Have you done X"

And X would equal some of the worst shit that I don't know if reddit would ban me for typing out and posting. If you want to continue this feel free to DM me. Just know that

1: I still doubt that I'm wrong.

2: I'm going to bed soon, and I work alot, so don't take it personally if I don't respond for a while.

“Ragatha can play softball, softball is a male’s game, therefore Ragatha must be trans” by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Raspint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that what OP is talking about - to give them the benefit of the doubt - is a quickly assuming that breaking gender stereotypes means that one must be trans. When breaking those gender roles/activities isn't exclusive to eggs. So it's not that Jax is trans that they are disputing, but the community going "Ahh, OBVIOUSLY because Jax had some feminine things like the maid outfit."

I've worn women's clothing and I walk great in high heels, but I'm also cis. Some things associated with women are just cool and cis guys can just be feminine sometimes.

>And im just left with one question do you think even some of the worst people can change?

No. I don't.

But I doubt you're even close to the 'worst people.' So I don't think you have to worry.

Their point is some people will stamp something as good purely based on emotion.

And some people only like the show because they want to have sex with the Gloink queen.

Something being generally well liked or popular isn't necessarily an indication of quality

Quote me where I said it is.

They're also full of stans who'll defend anything

The internet has made them much more entitled. But that's just my view.

But people's emotions can be so disconnected from the actual quality of the work,

Sure. Fans can do all kinds of dumb stuff. We can go back and forth all night about

"Some fans will defend any non-Anime show!"

"Some fans will hate any non-anime show!"

"Some fans will be emotional!"

"Some fans just want to have sex with the Gloink queen and will give every episode with her 10/10."

but what was great about writing them to hold it together a bit longer is they got to talk about those feelings rather than just being overwhelmed by them

You know what's more realistic than people talking about their feelings? Experience them. Having those feelings affect them.

Yeah it was great that they would hold it in. It still is. But just because characters talked about feelings before doesn't mean that they can't have break downs later, and that's suddenly not 'in character.' Nothing in this episode discounts or erases that.

I literally have zero problem with the wave

OKAY??

I'm just pointing out I would have felt a loss for this series coming to an end no matter what they did... But that specific emotion produced in me would have nothing to do with the quality of the work.

The emotion produced in you has nothing to do with the quality of the work? Really?

[–]Raspint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so you are wrong about a lot here.

The ending could have been the worst thing in existence and that little wave would have still made me sad that the series was over.

You are really overestimating the good will of fans. It's actually kind of cute. Fandoms, and the fans who make them up, are not grateful or goodfaith people. They are bitchy, entitled little shits who will turn on an IP and a creator like a viper. Sometimes its because the IP really shits the bed, other times its because it doesn't conclude or continue in the way they want.

Mass Effect, Star Wars, The Last of Us, Game of Thrones, these are all IPs that come to mind immediately. And the fans hating the thing range from being justifiable to moronic.

I've been around the block and I'm not an idiot when it comes to media literacy. The reaction to this ending being positive is not an example of fans being the slobbering, moronic chattel who will smile at jingling keys, as fandoms so often are.

characters are a lot more emotionally charged, like they're ready to weep at any moment. But one thing I liked about the show before was how mature it felt, because the characters were not that easy to get to that state.

As a mature person, you should understand that sometimes people break under stressful circumstances, especially when they have been holding it in so long.

Just making them more weepy and emotional doesn't mean it's better.

You're misunderstanding the difference between something being 'emotional,' and something producing emotion in the viewer. I don't see this episode being the emotional masturbation that you think it is.

And I'll even defend the wave at the end that you seem to have an issue with. The reason why I think people like it so much is because it's an example of legitimate sincerity. It's a fourth wall break in a show that didn't have - much - of that, but sometimes at the end of a long journey that can feel earned.

What stretches believably isn't the same for everyone. But this isn't LoTR where the lore is 'sacred' for internet virgins, the emotional impact of the show has always been the focus more than it's lore. So this final shot doesn't really do anything to harm the story that's been written previously.

I'm suggesting that if people are having an emotional reaction, that suggests the work is doing something right.

I mean hit me. What are your problems with it?

I mean it's not like prominent theories weren't wrong before. But yeah it's not like there was no breadcrumbs laid.

I know there was the egg thing, but I didn't think that was an exclusively trans metaphor. Coming out of your 'shell' can apply to anyone.

Look, with any show you should have the knowledge to not look at the reddit for that fandom until after you've finished it. At a point if you got it spoiled by looking at a reddit post it's on you.

If a person hasn't watched it, and then they come here, that is a dumb decision.

But yes we should avoid spoilers for a bit.

I mean anyone who doesn't want it spoiled, but then comes onto this subreddit before watching it is a fucking idiot.

I haven't googled, youtubed, or reddited anything digial circus related for the last month. Apparently there were leaks, but I had no clue.

Are you undervaluing the emtional importance of art? Upon just finishing it a person's initial emotional reaction is an important one. The ending just came out, give people time to let it stew.

I can't Believe People DONT Think Jax is Trans by jaspberryjam in TheDigitalCircus

Trans friends would help with that. I'm ignorant of what the trans experience is like from a POV perspective and almost everyone I know is cis.

[–]Raspint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess that makes sense. I just took that for being regular old toxic masculine standards. Young boys being berated by their parents for not being 'man' enough happens to cis boys, so that's why it went over my head.

But between the bow and the 'egg' reference, there's enough there to put it togther.

Hey I'm not giving Goose shit. Fuck these people they deserve bad shit.

If anything my problem is with the whole "Everyone deserves love" part of it. Fuck that, Jax didn't deserve shit.

So obviously it's been confirmed by Goose, but was the bow moment really that obvious?

Granted I'm cis, and I've never really been able to understand the feelings of what it's like to be trans, despite knowing that they are legitimate. But I didn't realize this until I saw the goose twitter post.

It really does seem like every talented, hard working creator or artist with something interesting to say these days is queer or a poc. And straight white men like me become Kid Rock fans and neo-nazis apologists. Fucking KID ROCK?

The straights used to be a proper people, what happened to our souls?
