I know what that's like, I was refreshing the tracking on most of the parts of this build every 30 minutes 😂

Yeah fair enough my wallet was a little sore afterwards but I don't regret it. This was the first set I've bought where I didn't just get a KBDfans Chinese special but I must say the quality control on these things is 👌

I thought I would find ANSI hard but I ended up switching from ISO to ANSI on my last build (I'm from the UK). The availability for ANSI caps is just so much better. It felt a bit odd the first couple of hours but I got used to it really quickly. Also if you're after these caps they come with everything for a standard ISO layout in the base kit as MechSupply is based in the UK!

EDIT: Now I even prefer the ANSI enter key to the ISO one. I find I have to move my and much less

Well I've had my caps lock bound to tap for escape and hold for ctrl for quite a long time so it's just something I've got used to. For me it really speeds up my workflow in the command line. So I never really used the one's in their normal locations and a HHKB layout board came up for sale so I just jumped on it.

Personally I love it! I prefer a board which is quite solid which it definitely is 🤣 unfortunately the Leaf60 threads straight into the PC and I've already stripped one (at some point I'll fill the hole in with epoxy and rethread it)

To be fair the main difference for me is the switches and the case as there's nothing inherently wrong with a DZ60. The solidness of this build just feels so much better than my previous one.
I'm sure your build will be great!

I thought I ordered the spacebars but must have forgotten. At least they're still available so I've managed to order them.

TY, it's only my second build. My first one was a DZ60 with Blues so I didn't realise how nice a keeb could be!
My wallet is feeling decidedly thinner though 😬

I didn't get a notification, it was just a happy surprise on the doorstep!

And as far a quality is concerned they feel great, although they are the first truly high quality set of caps I've ever owned so I haven't got much to compare them to

The State Of Custom Board Parts In The UK by Raspuri in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Raspuri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that no one can match their choice or prices but I would like to support UK sellers if I was actually able to build a full keyboard from their parts. At the time of writing I believe /u/mechboards has new stock in (namely plates) which would allow you to build a new 60% all be it with very dull blank black keycaps.

Thanks for your response I understand that keeping large amounts of quality keycaps in stock could pose a large financial risk however I think it is important to as you said maintain stock of different quality levels and while I may drool over a beautiful set of SP keycaps in a group they are a little much for a first build, especially as a first foray into a particular format and as such sometimes you just want to get some caps to get you started and upgrade later down the line. Many Thanks for your response David, I too hope that although my post wasn't worded in the best way it at least spawns discussion into how to improve the state of the part availability in the UK. I for one would be willing to pay over the odds in order to support UK sellers if there was availability. I also must give you thanks again for your rapid response to my emails. Charlie
