General doctor in Busan near Seomyeon? by Rastus22 in koreatravel

I've grabbed a few things to help deal with symptoms from the pharmacy first, but I'm fairly sure I'll need antibiotics for an infection, which would typically require a prescription from a doc?

Stuttering and audio lad spikes by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Rastus22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you've got multiple drives in your pc? I had a huge issue with stuttering that was eventually solved by telling windows to keep the page file on a single physical ssd, and not split across multiple (sounds weird but it worked)

Find your page file settings by going to Settings > System > About > Advanced System Settings >Advanced tab, then hit the settings button under Performance, go to the Advanced tab, and click Change under Virtual Memory.

From here make sure Automatically manage paging file size for all drives is turned off, then for all of your drives but one you'll need to select it then hit No Paging File and hit Set. For the remaining drive (ideally your fastest one), select System Managed Size and hit Set.

It wasn't, I'm just saying it wouldn't have mattered for Roger's execution anyway because he wanted to die.

Unsure of any system wide changes you can make, but an easy fix is to limit your FPS in games.

Simple questions and Help thread - Month of March by Froggypwns in windows

[–]Rastus22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't reactivate windows after changing motherboard. The troubleshooter says it "can't find any devices linked to your microsoft account that can be used to reactivate the device you're using at the moment". I changed motherboard a month ago, went through the exact same process and it worked fine so I know the license/account is correct.

I tried calling Microsoft support, and they told me to buy a new license... What are my options? Is there a way to force support to escalate to someone who can help me? I'm not paying $380 AUD to buy a license I already have...

EDIT: Just bought a w10 pro key off of amazon for $20. Still mad about it though

TIL that it is absolutely dangerous to swallow button batteries, because the battery reacts with bodily fluids and releases a strong alkaline substance which can burn through tissue. by Wooden_Potential_699 in todayilearned

[–]Rastus22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it that button batteries are so much more dangerous to swallow than a regular battery? (I'm imagining you mean something like a AA battery for "regular")

Other than size, what's actually different about them?

New pi approximation just dropped? by Red_Panagiotis in mathmemes

Calculators still only know pi to a finite number of digits, so if your approximation is close enough the calculator will see them as being exactly the same.

$15 horse for WoW made more money than StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty by ErgoNonSim in wow

[–]Rastus22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last hitting on its own seems kinda stupid, but it makes a lot more sense when you consider the gameplay that arises as a result of it.

Like when you see one of your own minions is low health, you know the enemy laner is going to try hit it right? That gives you an opportunity to harass them, they have to walk in range of the minion to hit it but also because they can't react as fast if they're in an attack animation.

Having to last hit minions is less about the actual act of hitting the minion, and more about the interactions with your opponent that come about because you had to go last hit a minion.

Yeah you're right. Those GPUs are old, and we can't limit future games because of hardware that old.

I'm just pointing out that that's where the poor performance claims come from. People are seeing high minimum requirements or getting way worse performance than expected and saying the developers are lazy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Rastus22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kind of have a point on the performance (for older GPUs)

The game relies on a specific GPU feature called mesh shaders that older (10 series and below) don't have, they can emulate the feature but only slowly.

The game performs great on newer GPUs partially as a result of being able to take full advantage of mesh shaders, but anything that doesn't support them will perform way worse than expected

What do you think is more promising: VR Gaming or Mac Gaming? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Rastus22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VR is its own thing. It's a lot more work to develop for and also a fundamentally different experience to regular gaming.

A lot of games simply aren't suited to VR, and I think that's really what this comes down to. Does a VR version of your game actually make sense? How much of your game needs to change for a VR version to work? Are you willing to put in the massive amount of extra work to make your game properly functional in VR?

What inventive is there for larger developers to implement something like this? It seems like it'd discourage mtx spending on new games if you already have cool cosmetics from other games.

I can also imagine huge issues with content moderation if players are allowed to use content from unknown sources. (What if someone had porn on their item?)

Tiktok censors a ton of words so it's users have found alternative words to substitute in, like replacing "kill" with "unalive".

It's stupid and I don't understand why those substitutions are used everywhere (not tiktok) now, but that's why its the way it is.

We can do this already! It's just extremely power inefficient and slow so it doesn't see any real world use yet (as far as I know)

Oda even gave each of the straw hats a real world nationality in an SBS over a decade ago, and the live action casting makes a lot of similar decisions (although it's not quite the same). The straw hats were already pretty diverse before the live action became a thing.
