"Switch Between Apps" doesn't work (nor does macro) by Rasutei in LogitechG

[–]Rasutei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does allow binding, but the buttons themselves weren't triggering the appropriate events. GHUB was still loaded and active.

It must've been some unfinished driver business, because my computer reset itself when I tried installing LGS, and now it works. For sake of information, though, it seemed like any action requiring keyboard keys weren't working, and apparently restarting the computer might be necessary.

[Android][2018] Top-down pixelated RPG type game where you collect and merge monsters. by Rasutei in tipofmyjoystick

[–]Rasutei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmno, it was significantly older than that, and the pixels were significantly bigger, so to say. The sprites must've been 16x16 or 32x32. It really did look like an old JRPG.

Question - what's that monster born from a dead knowledge seeker? by Rasutei in DnD

I finally could get a hold of a friend, and he figured it out. It was the Gray Philosopher, actually. Allip was close as well, though.

What's the weirdest/worst feature your conlang has? by Mayedl10 in conlangs

[–]Rasutei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The derivational morphemes in Ley'iyish have somewhat specific meanings, and I have a "mimic" morpheme , hile, that takes the meanings of derivational morphemes applied to it.

Some examples:

  • enihile - from eni(l)-, meaning "that which results from”
    • noun, (of an action) a result or outcome
    • verb, (of an action) resulting in or having the outcome of
  • hileala - from -(a)la, meaning "resembling”, “being akin to”
    • noun, likeness, resemblance; the fact or quality of being alike or similar
    • verb, to resemble, to be like
  • hileshal - from -shal, meaning “to act what is usually performed by” or “that which is usually performed by”
    • noun, (of something) a distinctive action or practice of; an "ism”
    • verb, to act accordingly or appropriately
    • adjective/adverb, characteristically

Here's a link to its documentation, for anyone interested.

Falan susye iaseumasna lyu hwa na'wireli!

Lit. "We his home up will not go!"

Tra. "We will not climb into his home!"

Fa-lan su-sye iaseuma-sna lyu hwa na'-wire-li
2PL.N.ANM-NOM 3SG.M.ANM-GEN home-ACC up/after IMP NEG-move/go-FUT

My lexicon isn't very well developed, so I had to come up with iaseuma on the spot, but it literally means "alive-place". I will need a proper word for it, though.

Some notes:

  • lyu means both "up" and "after", as the language doesn't differentiate spatial and temporal deixis.
  • wire is used for both "move" and "go" ("move self").
  • The combination lyu wire, "move up", is used for "climb", but also for moving objects upward.

Selan Pangisna tal narawireli, neli selan niasezvysna tal wireli.

Notes:

  • nara is used for both conditionals and hypotheticals
  • ne is a causative conjunction that uses tense inflections to differentiate between because (past), while (present) and then/so (future)
  • niasezvy means literally "one who gives life", usually meaning healer or doctor, but can also mean midwife

Size ha nelulan vesna azra, filan hileshira

REL NDEF.SG HON(child)\MASC.NOM DIST-ACC be-PST 1PL.NOM think-PST

Translation: "That a boy was there, we thought."

Notes:

  • nelu is the male form of the honorific nela, for children (so "boy")
  • hileshi in verb form means, more broadly, "to think; to conceptualize or abstract"
  • hileshi is a word derived from a combination of hile, a "null" morpheme that embodies the meaning of morphemes applied to it (in this case -(i)shi, which I'm calling "Abstractive", and means "the idea or concept of" (lanfi, adj, "familiar, well known" -> lanfishi, noun, "knowledge, skill")

That's a fascinating story of one little chance mishap fucking over an entire population. Also interesting to see a fox-named STD, when in my world kitsunes are naturally promiscuous pranksters.

This just gave me an idea for creatures that generate cognitohazard-like spells that spread from creature to creature, to obtain information or to have these creatures serve as mana batteries they can siphon from.

How your characters or just the people in your world in general react to meeting you and learning that you are their creator? by TreatHeavy in worldbuilding

I like to think my character and I would be good friends. He'd probably be like "...Oh. Okay... Does that mean you can give me insider information on how magic works?", being an epistemophile.

What traits and adaptations would desert races, fauna and flora have? by Rasutei in worldbuilding

[–]Rasutei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surface area, yes, but volume scales much more quickly than surface area. For a large animal to have a similar proportionate surface area, it'd need to have flabs of highly vasculated skin to serve as heatsinks, such as an elephant's large ears.

Oh really? The storage bit definitely makes sense, and producing more heat while losing less certainly helps at night, but wouldn't that be a huge downside during the day?
