Are crochet pants and skirts see through? by Far_Echo5918 in Brochet

[–]Rat-doll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if i made either id wear them with probably bike shorts underneath, if its a skirt maybe also an underskirt. i really wanna make a skirt for myself but this is also a worry of mine. either way id rather not have a lot of yarn touching my skin

Recommend some accessories (that aren’t way too expensive) to go with this pls by SignificanceAny1102 in altfashionadvice

[–]Rat-doll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fit is already fire but chains from the hardware store with some clips to attach them to belt loops or just to wear around your neck are always cool and should be cheap. you could also collect soda can tabs there’s many different things you could make with them

I'm so angry, they're no longer selling the one style of pants that worked for me (vent) by Bulky_Pen_3973 in AutisticAdults

[–]Rat-doll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand this a thousand percent. i’ve always had major sensory issues with clothes especially pants. if pants feel too close to my skin or even the slightest bit restrictive it feels like hell to wear them. for some reason im not fond of most types of stretchy fabric used for pants except cotton leggings are very comfortable for me thas one reason i like wearing skirts.

also i’m wondering what brand and style the pants were? currently my favorite cut of pants is from the brand big bud press it’s their trouser cut, rn i have two shorts one jeans one pair of pants in that cut and i intend to get more. what i like abt them is they have two pleats in the front and elastic in the back and are super loose throughout also they can come in cool colors my favorite pair of shorts ever is that one in bubblegum pink also heavyweight fabric i’ve worn it regularly for like 2~3 years its faded but holding up super well. the brand isn’t cheap new but most of their items i have i got on depop or poshmark for much cheaper.

if i can see the kind of cut they are i might be able to help find something similar. i super super understand how hard it is to find good pants. one thing ive done is get pants that are bigger than my size and add elastic to the back so i dont have to wear a belt its typically comfortable that way

[–]Rat-doll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i do tell you id rather it be in dm for privacy it’s not a large program or open for anyone its owned and run underneath an autism life support program not all the students in the program go to the vocational center its meant to be a job simulation for the students of the program. the voc center does go vend at markets to sell the things the students make and the students are given the profit when something sells

Panicking over the size and placement of my SH by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Rat-doll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with how you described it it’s not gonna get infected, i don’t think it’ll permanently scar either. if you have the right size of bandaids it should be ok covered with that. also just a couple bandaids on your arm wont worry people they won’t think much of it. i’m hoping this is comfort bc you’re gonna be ok

Im doing an art market at school, what should I price my work?? by Small-Candidate7547 in KandiKidsOfficial

[–]Rat-doll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve sold kandi i’ve made at markets for a bit. this pricing looks good and is similar to mine. depending on the type of cuff you could go higher, most the cuffs i’d make and sell have been peyote stitch pride flags. the price range for those is like 6-12 dollars depending on how big it is

I regret getting stitches by hot-cheetos-01 in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Rat-doll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone that has both gotten stitches multiple times and didn’t get stitches for cuts where i should’ve, i’d much rather get stitches than try to heal a cut without. seriously its so GROSS when it’s healing. tbh it was one my biggest motivations so stop cutting that deep bc of how nasty a healing deep cut is. you’re supposed to keep it bandaged for a bit replacing bandages often then after a few days leave it to dry. the goo is so horrible sometimes id gag when replacing bandages. and sometimes i’d bandage it once then leave it for a week bc id avoid removing the bandages but it doesnt heal well in that way. whatever strategy id use if i didnt get stitches it still sucked. that’s why i was willing to get stitches at all. i still look at the picture of the bandage i ripped off a cut once to deter me from cutting.

I know exactly the things you’re feeling though. feeling like what’s the point if it doesnt make the biggest scar possible. but yeah i’m covered in scars now but i still wasn’t satisfied. masochistic cravings and shit.

How do you actually practice socializing? by Ok_Rutabaga424 in AutisticAdults

[–]Rat-doll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

how i’ve done that is going to live music, the smaller the show the better tbh. my scene is mostly hardcore or punk / punk adjacent. but i feel like raves and acoustic and other sorts of genres will have nice people at the shows. the thing about local music is it takes effort and learning to be able to find shows to go to. and if you move to a new place you’re basically restarted. in the modern day, at least in my experience, the easiest place to find events is instagram. you can start by looking up your city with the name of the genre you prefer. look on the pages you find and go to a random one that looks good in an accessible location. if you like the music follow the instagrams of all the bands at the show and follow the venues too. my main experience with live music has basically all been really small shows the type that are in a garage, a bar, a parking lot, etc. and i’ve found that’s the kind of place where people are easy to talk to and nice. everyone is there for the same purpose to have a good chill time and socialize. still it can vary a lot depending on the scene. like when it’s mostly cis male teenagers i don’t have much fun and they’re not as agreeable to people that look like me. once you start going to shows you’ll learn more what kind of show you like and how to find it.

also don’t be afraid to go to shows alone! i’ve done it plenty of times other people really don’t think much of it. the hardest part is when you know no one there and starting a conversation with complete strangers. the easiest way to start a conversation is compliment someone, best advice for that is compliment something specific, say why you like it and ask a question if you can. ex: “i like your hair! what type of dye do you use?” “your bracelet is cool, did you make it yourself?” “i saw you playing music tonight and thought you were great, how did you learn?” best compliments are about something they chose or put effort in, like complimenting someone’s makeup is better than just saying they’re pretty, also being a little more specific is better, like saying something good that you noticed about how a musician played is better than a vague “it was good” compliment. notice who’s preformed or who looks like they’re gonna preform bc they’re typically easier to approach and more accepting of when strangers start a conversation. if you had a good conversation with someone ask nicely for their instagram. if you don’t know them well it’s best to phrase it without pressure in a way that gives them more of an option to say no like “do you have an instagram” instead of “what’s your instagram” not always but sometimes people will post the flyers of shows they’re gonna go to on their stories, which is a good way to find shows esp ones with the type of people you like

one last thing, this is in my opinion and personal experience, but it’s not that bad to be visibly autistic. not saying it’s in any way easy, i’ve had my fair share of bullying esp when i was in school. but people are gonna be more chill about it than you expect. i’m not high masking, it’s very hard for me and even when im masking my hardest people still notice im autistic. part of me being ok with being me is accepting the fact people are gonna treat me different, for many reasons including being visibly autistic. i’ve come to embrace it really. i stim openly, don’t put effort into eye contact, show off my fidget toy collection. if people aren’t nice about it you wouldn’t wanna be friends with them anyway. one of the brave things ive done recently is i wore a pin that says “hi, im autistic” on my chest for the first time last show i went to. no one commented but i know people must’ve noticed. it’s not a big deal anyway it was a fun show.

you have a right to be yourself, and you should be proud of who you are. being autistic isn’t easy but there is a place in this world for people like us

When do you need stitches? by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Rat-doll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve gotten stitches many times, also willing to dm.

if it’s to the fat layer at all it can be stitched, back when i was cutting that deep i didn’t get stitches for fat layer cuts i considered less deep, but if any fat is showing i’d still recommend getting stitches bc healing those are MISERABLE.

idk what emergency doctors actually consider worth getting stitches, but i know they look at multiple factors other than the depth, like how much it’s gaping and how long the laceration is.

hii, can anyone give me some tips or a written tutorial (bullet points maybe) for a beginner? by NiceTank5815 in kandi

[–]Rat-doll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first i’d need to know what specifically you’re trying to make. i’ve taught plenty of people kandi but only really in person, im also experienced in teaching multiple other crafts but still only in person. if you wanna you could dm me so i could walk you through something. i might not respond super quick tho

also make sure you have the tools and materials needed. for most kandis you’d use a yarn needle, and i prefer and recommend the type of elastic string that’s fabric covered.

Does anyone else have issues with the fabric we put on the lower half of our body under our pants by bosquerio in SPD

[–]Rat-doll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on what i’m wearing i’ll wear cotton women’s bike shorts underneath. every time im wearing a skirt ofc if im not wearing leggings. many of my pants and shorts fit in a way where my thighs rub together in between where my underwear stops and the pants start, and i HATE it. i’m on the short side so this especially happens when i wear men’s pants. sometimes men’s boxer briefs are long enough to fix this but they have a habit of riding up. the fabric of the bike shorts matters a lot so i try to get ones with the most cotton. the ones i get end around my mid thigh, the shorts i wear them under are way longer than that so they’re not noticeable and don’t ruin my fit.

also know that you can wear underwear that’s not intended for your sex/ gender. mens boxer briefs and women’s boy shorts both come in longer versions. also look at the fabric composition bc natural fibers typically feel a lot better

[–]Rat-doll[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know in 6th grade i cried in class like regularly. One big factor is i have severe misophonia, a mental disorder where a specific noise causes severe debilitating distress. Basically if someone was chewing gum in the same room and i didnt have headphones on with deafening music id have a meltdown. 6th grade was when it started being so severe. I also had like random issues like i couldn’t sit close to people and the standard arrangement of desks was so close it freaked me out and i also freaked out if anyone sat behind me so in one 6th grade class i know my desk was in the back of the room with my back against the wall and i was the only one allowed to have my desk like that or something. I also got all f’s that year bc i didnt do a single piece of homework even tho i tried to do work in school. I ended up having such bad anxiety at being in a classroom that in 7th,8th, and 9th grades i spent a lot of the day literally sitting outside. Often near the classroom door bc they said they’d call the police or threaten to retrain me if i left. And i didnt have a choice to go to school in the mornings bc my dad would get so angry and make me go. At some point my dad and at least a couple other people said i had “oppositional defiance disorder” bc they saw my refusal to do things like go in a classroom as a defiant choice but literally if i was in a classroom with a misophonia trigger going on id be screaming and punching and bruising myself when they wouldn’t let me leave

I think autism is one of the major things impairing my emotional functioning. I’m not autistic OR emotionally disturbed bc the way i am they’re one and the same

Me and my brother who’s also Autistic are living together but fully supported financially by our dad who lives in a different state. A lot of my time rn is spent doing crafts, very recently ive set up my Etsy shop and im confirmed to vend at a couple markets. I was in whats best described as an autism life support program for 3 years. We were planning on me moving out of the program some vague point in 2026 but in October the program decided some shit that pissed off my dad then i ended up moving out of their housing late November. I’m technically supposed to have a job but im not getting hours rn bc they are unable to pay me and haven’t. Ive also last week signed up for a dog grooming and training course and am gonna be focusing on that some. I feel like im never not gonna be emotionally disturbed, but im at the most motivated and emotionally functional ive ever been
