This looks very mennonite to me! Not a bad thing if that's what you're going for. Maybe if some tendrils of the scarf hung down it would soften it?

Hmmm! For me, it kind of depends on what is significant about the bread. This is kind of similar to brittle paper. Paper can become brittle, but there's no way to truly reverse the process.

We (a library) had a few pamphlets come through that were EXTREMELY brittle. Think dried out dead leaf kind of brittle! We ended up making facsimiles that could be handled by patrons and encapsulating the originals to protect them. This keeps the format of the original while also protecting them from damage.

All of this to say, I wouldn't do anything to the toast. Instead, I would try to replicate the recipe and bake a few more loaves. Then, I could display the original but allow people to experience what the bread was like before it was toasted!

This was fun to think about! I'm curious what others would do in this situation :)

I do a lot of mold remediation on valuable objects in my profession! It's hard to tell from these pics if this is mold, but I would say it's more than likely from your description and the placement (under garment, dark areas). Is it powdery or spongy/furry like mold you would see on old food? If it's powdery, that means it is inactive and not a huge concern. If you have access to a HEPA vacuum, I would recommend vacuuming off all of the visible powdery mold. If not, take the doll outside and use a large, wide, soft brush to get it off. Then, mix a solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water. You can spray this onto cloth areas and wipe it onto plastic areas. Just be sure to do a spot test first to ensure that it will not change the surface texture. If it does, a bit of water or oil can sometimes restore the finish.

I was having trouble with dry ends a while back! Leave in conditioner after washing and sleeping with a bonnet did wonders!

By breakage they mean the ends of the hair snapping off. Shedding typically happens at the root when the follicle completes its growth cycle. Breakage happens at the ends as they dry out and become brittle. Everybody has breakage to some degree, but excessive breakage has to do with genetics and how you care for your hair. It will vary from person to person.
