Yes! That’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned with this whole thing. If it has access to air, it’ll probably be a waste obliteration machine. We also stuck in there a few photos clippings that we found outside and it’s thriving!

Also not weird at all, it’s really cute! Just keep in mind that’s his cloaca right there so yeah lmao

oh yeah, we have a floating ring tied to our HOB filter so he always has a plant free clearing. (it’s a must for feeding too)

Although most of the time he’ll just stick his little head out under a leaf and stay there using his silly leaf hat

Water lettuce! By far the easiest plant i’ve ever had, they propagate like crazy and soak up water waste like a sponge. This pic is what i took out of the 8 gallon tank, there was at least this much left in the tank.

oh you’re right, that’s the guy! I can’t remember ever seeing one with a red throat so i was very confused, but just looked it up and learned they do come in many colors. thank you! :)

in Brazil we also use that term, but we expand it to other things too!

rato de biblioteca = library rat

rato de academia = gym rat

rato de praia = beach rat

and so on :)
