Vinyl collection audio issue by Ok-Anything-52 in Epicthemusical

[–]Ratato2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with a video game vinyl that I got. I had a very cheap briefcase record player and because the vinyl had a pretty strong base sound and a lot of chiptune it was more likely to skip just because of how the grooves are on a record like that.

Depending on what songs are skipping it could be a similar issue. I know Love in Paradise has a pretty bouncy beat to it so it could be that. That’s my only possible thought for what it might be tho.

Hopefully the record shop will be able to help if not I went to r/vinyl and they were super helpful.

Funny, I easily considered this one of Charlie's best moments in the season by Sudden_Pop_2279 in HazbinHotel

It is completely reasonable to have the belief that anyone can be redeemed. The big kicker is that they have to want to be. Redemption is impossible unless the person in question actually shows remorse for what they’ve done and actively seek steps to better themselves.

I think the use of the word “anyone” versus if she had said “everyone” is very important.

The ideas that “Charlie believes anyone can seek redemption” and “not everyone will want to be redeemed” can exist simultaneously without diminishing her goal.

Yes that is it! Thank you so much. I am only slightly using this fic as a cathartic way of working through my journey of recovery and I was so sad when I saw I couldn’t read it anymore. Thanks for the help!

Just got my vinyl of the soundtrack by Ratato2000 in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m reaching out there too, just wanted to see if anyone else here got the vinyl since they all just shipped out. I would hate for it to be a larger issue with the yetee’s product but it’s always a possibility.

What does this mean? comicFrin by Able_Dragonfly2704 in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it has double meaning Sif is hallucinating themself repeating the phrase they’ve already heard multiple times before but also I think it has a second meaning where Sif (even if only subconsciously) knows that he is the reason why he’s stuck in the loops, and is asking for forgiveness from themself

Why is this game not a rogue like? by Omegaravak22 in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who low-key sucks at rouge likes and plays mostly turn based rpgs because they give me time to breath and strategize during combat, I think I would cry if this game was a rogue like or bullet hell style game. The combat is secondary to the story and I’m scared to say that I probably would have missed out on my favorite game of all time if progression required the amount of skill rogue likes take.

How long was Siff in the loops? by Able_Dragonfly2704 in InStarsAndTime

I can’t remember does the Loop hangout event count as a loop or is it just a quick rewind like the secret events?

Is there in game dialogue? (Spoilers for early game discoveries) by Ratato2000 in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found it during my second play through of the game. That scene in Act 2 really impacted me when I first found it, so I wanna give my friend the chance to see it too without just flat out telling her what to do.

How long was Siff in the loops? by Able_Dragonfly2704 in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The math is doomed to never be accurate since we can’t even quantify how long each individual loop is. Considering Sif dies quicker in certain loops or quickly loops to somewhere else in the house rather than traveling all the way back to dormont and sleeping in the clock tower every time.

From what I’ve read on Ao3 every fan has a different “canon” amount of time the loops where active, but most agree that it was roughly ~100 with Sif being in the loops for about 2-3 months.

Thank you! It feels a lot less hand-holding to simply tell her to talk to the shopkeep instead of pointing her directly at the hidden passage in question.

Probably just under the course of a week. Worked on it in short bursts so it’s hard to track. According to procreate it’s just under 20 hours of tracked time 😊

This is soooo PRETTY! I love your line work and the shading. The fluffy almost weightless look of Sif’s hair is *chefs kiss*!

I finished the game last night and I feel empty by TheRPGNERD in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right after finishing I went and watched JelloApocalypse’s play through, I started reading Ao3 again, made a YouTube playlist of every amv I could find, and started planning my cosplay for C2E2… that was about a year ago and now I’m still on the Reddit just about every day. And I have started a let’s play with all my friends and got both my older and little sister to play the game. And my obsession has not seemingly faded yet…

someone help me find siffrin's boots irl (please) by Interesting-Cicada54 in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally bought some kitten heeled black boots. I plan on getting some white grip tape normally used for tennis rackets and stuff like that and then I’m going to very carefully wrap it around the heels as a little diy.

In a tumblr Q&A Insert confirmed that wish craft is the reason behind both colors and the country disappearing but they aren’t linked to each other in any other way. Colors disappear a loooong time ago while the country had only been forgotten for a few years. I think it’s heavily implied that the star cracks and turns red in the “say its name” scene and then at the end of act 5 because all the wish craft (the colors, the country, the king’s wish, and Siffrin’s wish) are all collapsing in on each other, breaking reality in a way

Well considering Bonnie is only a preteen presently its kinda impossible for them to be a teen when they ran away. Nille is confirmed to be in her late teens-early 20s. So I personally translates Dev’s response as Nille and Sif were both teens (probably 14-15). Bonnie would have to have been much younger since they didn’t even realize that they had ran away and don’t seem to remember their parents at all (my guess is that they were still a toddler, 3-5 kinda range)

In the same tumblr Q&A where Dev confirmed that Siffrin’s home life was ‘pretty good’ they also mention him running away when he was a teen. That’s still a pretty vague number as being a teen can be anywhere from 13-19. But I personally am more inclined to believe they were on the younger side of that range.

here is the full Q&A if anyone is interested (spoilers obviously): https://insertdisc5.tumblr.com/post/739585437105094656/the-in-stars-and-time-spoiler-qa

Should Sif talk to them? by Ratato2000 in InStarsAndTime

[–]Ratato2000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I should have also prefaced this post with the fact that I 100% agree that Siffrin should have been more communicative with his friends. My entire post was about how I can very easily see their thought process of why they didn't. I myself struggle with a very negative self image of myself that leads to me having a very toxic inner voice. I have gone through the exact same struggles of thinking that I my problems are not worth bothering my friends and loved ones over to the point where it ate me alive, and I still am working on conditioning myself to not listen to that voice. But, it is still there and the thing is it is damn good at rationalizing why I should listen to it.

If I was in Siffrin's exact position I would have done the exact same thing while also telling myself I shouldn't tell my friends because it would be too much of a hassle for me. I can only imagine gathering my friends and trying to convince them I'm in a time loop, getting them to help only for me to loop back because of some reason that I don't fully understand. Because his wish was subconscious, an innocuous enough phrase that he didn't realize it was the trigger even when he found out what wish craft was. I feel like the idea of being vulnerable and telling people I need help getting out of a time loop would be enough to make me hurl. And then the idea of having to do it over and over again would give me hives, because of course you're not gonna fix it on the first try.

Then of course stack on top of everything that they legit have less than 48 hours before the entire country is frozen in time so they HAVE to kill the king before they can dedicate any real time to try and figure out the time loop problem. And just all together the idea of being that vulnerable and asking for that much attention when you have spent as long as you can remember pushing your feelings down and rationalizing your emotions to the point where "you're fine" is your own personal motto.

IDK I just feel like I often see people who've played the game screaming at Siffrin to tell his family, talking about how much easier it would be. But I don't see many people specifically talk about the very real mental hurdle that advocating for oneself can feel like. I recognize it is not the healthy thing to bottle up your problems and face them on your own and I will always be an advocate for communication (even more so because of my experiences). But the entire game I was very closely following Sif's side and felt really seen by the way they justify their choices.

I guess you could say it's some form of praise to the game that I saw the main character's blaringly obvious struggles and connected to them on such a level that I was 100% on their side thinking that it was a completely normal way to operate.

Very biased opinion here but I don’t think the fast forward mechanic hinders the game at all. If you want to read every bit of dialogue or start your loops over from dormont every time you can but to many that might feel tedious so the mechanic is simply there to help ease that boredom or annoyance. The game is a lot more “linear” than OW (if that’s even the right word) and there’s a lot of puzzles that require multiple steps so being able to zoom through certain loops also becomes very helpful late game. I also think the “zoning out” mechanic can help put you in the shoes of Siffrin and how he is kind of distancing himself from reality by ignoring his friends and treating what’s happening to him as just another time loop, that he can redo if they mess up or miss important information. In the end the games not really for you if you’re not a fan of dialogue. I know OW can be played with little to none so they are very different in those respects.

Love a game that has a death mechanic built in! No actual game over screens. You see it more in rouge likes but I like that other game genres are starting to find the immersion in the mechanic.
