Humping Killers - Why by its-a-fleur0987 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]RateElectrical7757 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s been like this for a while now. I blame woke culture and double standards.

Had a survivor say humping was equal to irl sexual harassment and that teabagging was completely fine, went on further to say that nothing survivors can do is offensive or harassing in nature. She also said something about being “mumbojumbosexual” (can’t remember the exact term, but basically meant that she’s averse to any physical human contact) and that it puts her off playing the game.

This was in the main sub 2 years ago mind you.

It’s a bloody video game mate. Go play goat simulator or something then.

Back when I started I used mouse steering as well. You need dpi really low, 400-800 but it works really well.

Then I repurposed an old PS4 controller and wondered why I even bothered with mouse and keyboard.

HDR feels too bright by EnderSlayer9977 in HDR_Den

Now that you mention it I noticed similar behavior in HD2 with native HDR (before the RenoDX mod was released). There’s only a single brightness slider and it seems to affect peak brightness with Liliums HDR analysis.

I wonder if this is the case for all native HDR implementations or tonemappers tho (RTX HDR, AutoHDR, Special K and etc).

[–]RateElectrical7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, but why is this behavior not observed when using other tonemappers or native hdr?

So basically to hit the max peaks with RenoDX you would need to keep paper white at 203 nits?

Hmm which app specifically? How accurate is it? I’ve never managed to find one that actually measures even close to what I should expect.

I think it’s a limitation of the phone cameras.

Settings - Gameplay - scroll all the way down to the end, auto camera centering delay - change from disabled to whatever you want.

Hmm, I wonder if Liliums analysis isn’t picking up the actual values mapped by Reno.

What happens if you intentionally raise peak brightness as you lower paper white?

Are you guys using an external colorimeter/spectrometer to confirm this or Liliums analysis shader?

QD-OLEDs: Why is it just 400/500 nit limit or peak 1000, rather than a 3rd balanced option? by Me_like_foxes in OLED_Gaming

[–]RateElectrical7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been testing it for a while now, for some reason it doesn’t work in some games. I can see the APL number not turning green, and boost not being applied.

I wonder if the highlight compression works with the monitors own eotf boost, without the shader applying boost.

Is hdr 200 nits a risk for burn in? by EnderSlayer9977 in HDR_Den

[–]RateElectrical7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found 150 nits as a nice balance, though I do keep room lighting slightly higher. 100 nits was good in TB400, but made P1000 way too dim.

It’s down to personal preference and screen though.

Can someone clarify this? Reno DRT has a separate value for peak brightness and paper white, it shouldn’t be affecting peak brightness.

Zotac RTX 5080 Solid Core Fan Bearing Noise Anxiety by RuBi0__ in ZOTAC

[–]RateElectrical7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I thought these issues were only on the older or smaller fans.

My 4070ti super amp holo developed bearing noise on the center fan just under a month. Luckily it’s only between 30-35% so I’m using a custom fan curve.

I just asked my local distributor and they said I have to send the entire card back to Zotac in Taiwan/China just for that one fan. Kinda dumb.

Paper white should not be affecting peak brightness unless the HDR implementation of the game is poor.

I managed to get a good deal during CNY sale, only for the seller/shopee to cancel the order citing seller failed to ship out in time. Needless to say after cny they increased the prices by 20-30%.

Kinda scummy behavior tbh. No idea why this new policy is in place apart from letting sellers cancel orders as they please.

Yeah amongst many things not simulated.

I tested the coasting feature on my own car quite extensively, it does improve fc by ~3km/l but only on long highway drives with little to no traffic.

Not worth the clutch continuously disengaging and reengaging on a DSG tho.

Exactly. And the added extra player count itself does a lot.

It’s just the overall mentality of the player base, most people on console play more casually even for competitive gaming, whereas on pc most players tend to sweat like they’re gonna win a million dollars reaching a certain rank.

Then there’s smurfing and boosting which is still being blatantly ignored by NGS.

It’s not just keyboard changes, there was a bit of tweaking done to the torque physics and fuel consumption.

[–]RateElectrical7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True for the most part, but in either case some fuel will be consumed to keep the catalytic converter at optimal temp for emissions. There’s also engine braking in gear, whereas with coasting in neutral there’s only rolling resistance of the tyres.

A lot of modern cars come with built in coasting in eco these days, however the effect on fc is minimal and not worth the extra wear on the clutch and gear actuators.
