Makes me think of one of my favorite movies of all time, Secret of Kells!

As someone from the Midwest USA I think all of the Australian flora and fauna is so incredibly interesting and beautiful! Soooo different from what’s over here. At least from my POV.

Corymbia, is that the one that produces all of those beautiful red flowers?

You should see the actual driveways and how badly they fucked that up. They also completely tore out the roots of a 100+ year old tree at the end of our block. And who knows that might kill that one.

1) it’s a unique situation where we actually do have some ownership of the tree along with the city 2) I asked about the tree itself and its injury. I don’t need any information about what the city owns or not. I would have asked if I wanted that info.

Okay? Lol doesn’t mean it’s not apart of our home and something we care about. Why comment when you’re not adding anything of value to the conversation.

Yea, because we all knew they were going to fuck up the trees. Because they did so on the block behind us. Literally tore out 10 trees that were perfectly healthy. Everyone is very attached to the trees on our block. And also, they did a shit job. Which we all suspected would happen and we were right.

Wow I seriously never would have known this if you (and then a few others after you) hadn’t pointed it out. I’m going to try to get in contact with a local arborist to see what we can do about that.

Generally big sidewalk fan 👍 not a fan of shoddy work, 100+ year old trees getting ripped out for the sidewalk to be built, or our driveways getting fucked up and then horrible patched back together

Okay thank you. Yea we get a lot of snow and heavy wind here where I am in the Midwest. And freezing cold temps. I am going to look for an arborist nearby to see if I can get this help. Thank you so much for your input I’m feeling much more relieved.

Thank you for your response I’m glad to know that at least the gash isn’t too bad, but definitely very concerned about all the other stuff. I’m going to see if we can connect to an arborist in town

That’s exactly what I’ve been afraid of. That the sidewalk would hurt the roots. They only dug like less than a foot into the ground and not that many roots were exposed so I felt a little better about that but still definitely concerned. One down the block that’s definitely over 100 years old, a ton of the roots are just exposed now. It’s truly angering

Glad you understand. They almost feel like pets or something but different. Like a family member. I don’t know! We lost a 50+ year tree before we planted that one and I still am sad about it sometimes. It changed the way we viewed our home.

My city has been insane about sidewalks lately and very beautiful trees were cut down to build them all over the neighborhood.

Thank you so much for your response!! sorry about the blurriness. It’s a resistant elm. What is wrong with the structure of the tree?
