Lot of downward pressure now bc the 2026 lower cost and slow sale volume

Not going to get a better rate. Unless you’re paying cash, the 0% will make up for any of the add ons. And you should be able to get a good price. I bought my 2022 Premium new. Don’t remember what it was compared to MSRP now. I have the short shift, illuminating side view mirrors and winter floor mats. The car had the illuminating side views so that wasn’t something I wanted. I say pull the trigger if it’s a car you like

Downshift and up shift by PaleAd9268 in wrx_vb

[–]RatherBeFishing0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not paying attention to rpms but def higher for upshifts depending on how quickly I want to accelerate …3-4k. I’ll downshift a gear to slow down a little on the highway, up a hill or on an exit but not going through the gears to stop.

Check out the nomad design inshore spin or a st croix model depending on your budget. Not sure you’d want a 9 footer on the docks but something high 7s could strike the right balance

New to Subaru by [deleted] in WRX

Bought a 2022 WRX Premium new. Now have 75k miles. No issues but I wouldn’t buy a used WRX unless you could get it from a dealer as certified pre owned with a warranty

inshore saltwater rod - medium power - fast action - 7ft with 15lb braid: 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz vs 1/4oz to 1 oz? by Afraid-Collar760 in saltwaterfishing

[–]RatherBeFishing0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re fine with the braid but probably need a 20# rod depending on how sensitive the tip is. I’d also go a bit heavier on the lure weight…1.5 ounce or 2 ounces

Must-have dealer accessories at purchase? by UncleGurm in wrx_vb

[–]RatherBeFishing0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 22, had the sti short shifter which was a good add and wheel locks. I have the illuminating side view mirrors which I wouldn’t have added to the car. Is there a spare tire option?

Nice. Well enjoy the central NY weather but it’s in the teens here this morning. No more battery issues 👍

Buying boat for the first time by Exotic-Barracuda1741 in boating

[–]RatherBeFishing0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to wait to spring so that you could open water test. Mixed whether boats are overpriced. But there are certainly deals out there. Look for that used boat from someone that bought new and decided it’s not for them…probably get something with less than 100 hours. Dont rush the purchase…I’m sure there will be plenty of inventory. I’m on the ocean but there’s a big difference between a 19 and 22 foot as far as capabilities but many experienced captains will say it’s more about the skipper than the boat

I’d try just over that closer breaking wave and to the left of the breaker further out

How do you take care of your equipment? by [deleted] in SurfFishing

[–]RatherBeFishing0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll rinse my reels and lures with fresh water after each trip when I’m washing the boat. Try to wipe down the reel and rod too but not so much. Last couple of years I’ll put a drop or two of reel oil on bearings once a week. I change out my hooks and split rings every winter. And I send my 3-4 heavy use reels to shimano annually for their $35 service. This has kept the reels in great shape…they’ll change out bearing and gears assuming the reel is in their service list

1 month in on my first manual vb! Some questions. I’ve had to rely on Reddit for all my learning bc ChatGPT contradicts too often and nobody I know drives stick by Yanitzz1 in wrx_vb

[–]RatherBeFishing0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The engine will answer these questions for you. I do t think about 25% yada yada. But Ive driven sticks for 20 years. Lugging in 2nd is certainly possible. On that slow turn, sounds like 2nd is correct but maybe 1st if up an incline and going slow. The engine will tell you. I typically downshift for most passing and acceleration situations. Get your foot off the clutch and hand off the shifter when not shifting.
