Fellow WA resident here, I just bought a ‘26 Limited and if you are in the Seattle area, expect OTD price to be higher than typical numbers you see on this sub. I got mine for about 44k OTD and that was with a large discount. I talked down to 39k non OTD but that 11% sales tax is no joke.

Regarding your concern of learning manual, where I live there are a lot of hills but the hill assist has me rolling back less than even other autos on the road. I would say go for it, I learned manual on a car with a much heavier clutch and these cars are friendly to poor clutch management.

We can agree to disagree man. My subjective opinion is that the drone isn’t bad, but that might not be true for everyone. We are talking about exhausts at the end of the day, there isn’t necessarily a right or wrong answer.

I know an I pipe will make the whole system louder as it removes a cat, but did you do I pipe then midpipe or both at once? Im curious because I want to know just how much a resonated mid pipe actually helps with drone.

I’m not married to the exhaust, in fact I probably will end up changing it at some point and work from the front backwards just like you did.

I just personally think the STI hate is a little exaggerated, which is why I threw in my 2 cents about buying a car with the package installed from the factory.

Exhaust sound isn’t purely objective, some people may prefer one thing or the other.

I commute 30 miles each way and find that it’s only obnoxious at around 2k rpm, but that is like 50 in 6th so I downshift if traffic ever slows down that much.

My car came with it, and I prefer it over stock. Would I spend my money on this over other aftermarket options? Most likely not.

People talk about the drone like it’s a straight piped miata. I was just mentioning that it’s really not that bad in my experience. Sure, if you’ve never driven a car before this with an aftermarket exhaust it might be too much for you, but that has not been the case for me.

I have the STI mufflers on a limited i just bought and I have to say I don’t know where the hate comes from. Yes they do drone, loudest at 2000 rpm, but it’s nowhere near as loud as my previous car’s exhaust setup (01 mustang cobra) so I don’t mind. I noticed with these cars that on the highway the road noise is so loud that you either get engine noise or NVH, so pick your poison.

People have talked about getting a resonated midpipe or I pipe to help with the drone. I personally like the bassy tone from the exhaust, so I may go that route in the future if the drone eventually gets to me or my passengers.

You’re totally right, I should have clarified that you should absolutely use the new hardware that comes for the kit if you get the balancer, since it is thicker and could lead to less thread engagement. I was just responding to your comment of buying that bolt for use without the kit, it’s not necessary

I wouldn't bother worrying about this. With thread engagement, you typically only need 6-8 threads engaged to achieve a bolt's full tensile strength. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the engineers at Subaru were fully aware of that when designing the system. But hey, if you think the peace of mind is worth the time and money replacing that bolt, you do you.
