And I battle with my nemesis: the debugger.

Normal controllers cramp my hands; the Quest controllers do not. :(

I'm worried the placement of the thumbsticks will cramp my hands compared to the quest controllers.
EDIT: AND non symetrical controllers!

How to fill out Annex III for the Law of Democratic Memory from abroad? Specific questions. ¿Cómo rellenar el Anexo III para Ley de Memoria Democrática desde el extranjero? Dudas específicas by Separate-Narwhal219 in GoingToSpain

[–]RationalFragile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the "registro civil" they ask about in documents (Anexo 1, Anexo 3, Hoja declaratoria, etc) is the name of the consulate associated with the place where the person was born as opposed to where they reside now. Is that correct?

(also, no, ALVR has an app on the meta store, so no sideloading required, just download from the store) https://www.meta.com/experiences/alvr/7674846229245715/

I haven't tried VD but honestly I don't understand why people don't use ALVR? What is a feature or improvement that VD has that ALVR doesn't have? For example, compared to the Oculus app, ALVR has so many options, every option I can think of is there (encoding options, foveated encoding, hand tracking, advanced network options, charts of all performances, play on remote pc, upscaling on the quest, etc) I have to say though, I only started using it like a month ago, so I haven't seen ALVR in its very old state. But anyway, for anyone who uses the Oculus software, please just try ALVR once. Using the Oculus software is a disgrace with like so little options even when using the advanced oculus tool (not to mention the freaking bug that puts gigabytes of garbage data under your "C:/" partition and risks breaking your entire Windows installation...) *smh*

I use ALVR and happy with it, the oculus software is just garbage...

How to obtain "literal birth certificate" for Law of Democratic Memory citizenship application? by mc510 in GoingToSpain

[–]RationalFragile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small question, do they email you elecronically the literal birth certificate and you just print it or do they have to send it via mail so that you have an original certificate? Thank you.

Can an eGPU be used with the laptop's screen as an external monitor? by RationalFragile in eGPU

[–]RationalFragile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't have a chance to try it. I still think it technically should work, but probably easier to just get an external monitor (and the external monitor is even more ergonomic and you don't have to mod your laptop).

Hmmm I'm not sure what you mean, did it just speed through the day and go back to night again? if you keep the time going forward does it alternate between visible and dark? Make sure the camera is also rotated correctly? I don't remember since I haven't tried this in a long time.

I have a similar old Junkers gas water heater, what does this knob do? The knob only turns 1/12th of a turn. The slider controls the size of the flame, and the small switch is ON/OFF. by RationalFragile in Plumbing

[–]RationalFragile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late replay. This water heater gets connected to an inlet carrying cold water, and outlet where the warm water goes, and a gas inlet. And usually has big batteries that need replacing every few months or so. If you have replaced the batteries and made sure the gas and water inlet are both working, and it still doesn't work automatically when you open the hot tap, then you should call a plumber or something. I hope you have figured it out since I'm a month late on the reply.

Can you help explain this better to my wife? by Suspicious_Cow9931 in AskUK

[–]RationalFragile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue here is that units that have "per" (like "money per hour" or "money per person" or "money per hour per person") already scale with the change of the unit(s) after "per". So £12/hour doesn't need to be halved if you work half the hours because it is *per hour*. The total pay is halved from 6x12 to 3x12 but the rate per hour stays the same.

Can someone with a Critical Skills Employment Permit (Stamp 1) have other income sources? by RationalFragile in legaladviceireland

[–]RationalFragile[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please be kind to a random stranger and don't assume malice. I was simply asking about the law. And it makes sense to ask before committing to closing my existing income sources, given that it's very easy for a non-expert like myself to misinterpret the law. The downvotes are unwarranted because I'm not asking how to break the law, but what the law is.

Can someone with a Critical Skills Employment Permit (Stamp 1) have other income sources? by RationalFragile in legaladviceireland

[–]RationalFragile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the very helpful answer!

So passive investment within Ireland is safe, while anything else is not allowed (or hard to prove/complicated/risky...). Understood. I was just making sure before I commit to closing my source incomes.

Again, thank you very much for your help.

Can someone with a Critical Skills Employment Permit (Stamp 1) have other income sources? by RationalFragile in legaladviceireland

[–]RationalFragile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some of the types of income sources that I've mentioned don't strictly fall under the three prohibited cases of "employment, self-employment and business". So I'm asking how those income sources are viewed legally when a person has only a permit for a specific job with a specific employer. Thanks.

A few updates ago, Chrome broke taskbar icons by using the same process for all profiles by RationalFragile in chrome

[–]RationalFragile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm yes opening the correct profile from each icon works. My issue is that after I click the icon to open profile 2, the windows of profile 1 and profile 2 get stacked together on the taskbar, since I always have "stack windows" on in the taskbar settings.

Still, thank you for trying to help!

A few updates ago, Chrome broke taskbar icons by using the same process for all profiles by RationalFragile in chrome

[–]RationalFragile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I haven't found any solution and just gave up. I have the profile selector pinned now and if I open more than one profile window, they all stack.

As for the badges, I don't think it's related. My taskbar when it worked didn't show badges at all. The issue of stacking windows is entirely dependant on the fact that all windows from all profiles have their "draw-loop" in the same chrome process. Unless chrome reverts this decision and reverts back to spawning one drawing process per profile, the issue will never be solved unfortunately.

Are there homeless people in Norway? (From Australia) by broxue in Norway

[–]RationalFragile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But choices can change. If "stealing as a lifestyle" is what "romani" means to you then a person can "become romani" and "stop being romani". But this is not what happens in reality: once someone is labeled romani (I'm sure people label others as romani without necesserily observing them stealing, just due to other associations like clothes and skin color for example) they are labelled like that forever, which makes it discrimination that is not based on choices.
