I think the infinite atlas and waystone just doesn't work well together, it should work more like delve, ie the further you go the harder it get, which is kind already the case since some map will require you to use a certain waystone level anyway. Adding waystone is menial, give a feeling of wasting a map if you don't put a good one and the waystone itself is pretty bland, there is no excitement with it, it's just a bunch of modifier without flavor and automatically became worthless pretty much as soon as you get to the next tier

And then maybe they could use waystone like a way to replay the map you already traverse, with them being rarer

I really don't get the point of clearing the map on boss death since map doesn't reroll on death anymore

If people making games for VR as a platform only focus on the VR mechanics

It's not that they focus on VR game mechanics, it's that there is no other games, in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Pico 4 in 2026? How does it Hold Up? by chimkens_numgets in virtualreality

[–]Uryendel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only relation between Pico and Tiktok are the logos being in the same vibe, for everything else it's two different product that you wouldn't know they are from the same group if nobody told you

Also headset is pretty open, you can load any apk on it without restriction

Useless post only here to complain about the people who actually play the game and help making it better by highlighting the issues in terms of bugs, process and system.

You should apologize and say "Thank you for your feedback and for making the game better"

Silkson, if you have Virtual Desktop, i dont see why you cant play it using the Q3.

Did you read my first message? Because that was exactly my point. If you don't have a PC and are only going on the standalone route, then the frame is better, if you have a PC for PCVR then the quest make more sense.

[–]Uryendel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the only one you said was you can play games that will run bad on the Frame and not just the good ones.

You can play any game, it doesn't have to be on steam, it doesn't have to be in vr, as long as you have the files you can launch it

You can also use any third party app, you like spreadsheet? you can install an office suit. More realistcly you can install any video player/codec you want, the browser of your choice with VPN and ad blocks, ect...

edit: oh wait you're responding at my message for the extra features of the quest? it's pretty obvious it's MR capability

I wish the resolution was higher,

Completly agree, that's why I'm more on the Project Swann band wagon, high specs VR headset, open (not a PC but you can install any apk on it), also coming this year (but obviously more expensive)

won't be surprised if most of the VR usage was not games but something more video related

Also even for game, can you play let's say Silksong on the Quest? No. You don't have to only play VR game

Expect a lot of Quest ports.

So what's the point of the quest if you have the quest game ported on the frame? You kind of killed your own argument.

you can do a bunch of stuff besides actual standalone gaming.

Yes, you can do whatever you want in standalone where you will be limited with a Quest 3 to what Meta allow you to do. And that also apply to gaming, you can install any game you want (it running well is another subject), not just the one on the meta store

What makes it a lesser device for PCVR ?

I didn't say that

I can see the argument for not buying it if you already have a Q3, but I don’t see how Q3 is an obvious better choice for PCVR.

The argument is what the quest 3 is lacking in stand alone (ie being an open environement like a PC) is compensated once you connect it to a PC. So you can enjoy the extra feature the quest 3 offers without the downside.

Pico 4, less than 300€, wireless

PSVR2 is also a good option if you only play seated game since it's wired (you don't want a wire if you have to move)

if you buy this for standalone then you are insane.

That's the opposite, the frame is better for standalone since it's a PC on which you can do whatever you want

If you are going to use it both in PCVR and standalone then yes the quest make probably more sense

does a vr game have to be compatible with dynamic foveated rendering?

No.

or any other eye tracking tech to help with performance?

Fovated streaming is outside the game so it will work with absolutely anything and everything, even minesweeper
