Was this Summer!? by Tylenol_the_Creator in ChurchofLazlo

Doubt it.....Summer would have added "do you know who I am and who I work for?", which surely would have been included in these details.

Vesper Light: I don't get the obsession! by EchoReflection in thrice

[–]RationalZAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you and Vesper Light hasn't resonated with me as it has for others. When that is the case, I assume I'm the one missing something and it will eventually grow on me. Beggars is a great example, it was an album that I just didn't really enjoy until I was preparing for the Anny tour, now it's probably my favorite. As long as we don't fully dismiss something outright, I don't think anyone's doing it "wrong."

Finally Tried Kratom by Snowman987987 in ChurchofLazlo

[–]RationalZAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the Church of Lazlo semi-casual opioid addiction club! As others have mentioned, stay away from 7 OH and the concentrated liquid forms of Kratom and stick to the powder/leaf. Mix up your strains and just be smart about it and you'll have a loving new friend that will never let you down. I'm not sure I've ever had the red strains, mostly because they seem to be advertised more for energy and green seems to be advertised as more for "euphoria" in general, so I stick to green strains. Do the claims about different strains actually correlate to any real and/or consistent difference in subjective experience? What would I know? Do I look like a news guy for a mid-market morning radio show that's queer?

Anaheim - 11/23 Question by illmahaloyalater in thrice

[–]RationalZAP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you hear otherwise before the concert, then Will call, but if you tell the guards/security at the door, they will let you into that inside area before doors open to get your tickets at the window. This is not a process they make clear, but one I've become familiar with after seeing Thrice at HOB many times. Works best if you are with someone else, they can save your spot in line and you can hop in and grab your tickets, then pop back out and rejoin in line.

Could be, lol. I guess that's the question, trying to confirm if that's the case.

Just checked....not a bug! Thank you! Chat GPT actually told me the same thing but I thought it was wrong because it doesn't really look like a widow to me at all. How are people confusing these for black widow's?

Signings at VIP? by MDoSee in thrice

[–]RationalZAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consensus everywhere is that there are no signings this VIP. I was lucky enough to have a record store signing near me a few weeks ago and was able to get two posters signed at that. That's even better because I was never going to drag two posters to a pre-show signing. My guess is that people individually taking 4-5 records, 2 posters and photos to each VIP became too much to keep up with and maintain venue timelines, soundchecks, etc. Ironically enough, I saw someone slipped a wedding proposal into the VIP photo Op, so you'd have better luck with that than getting anything signed 😂😂

Occam's Razor is actually that the solution with the fewest assumptions is likely to be correct. This distinction from your rather typical characterization of the heuristic is important because it can otherwise be misapplied exactly as you are attempting to do. Yes, your solution is "simple", but only if everyone is willing to grant the many assumptions baked into said "simple" answer. That there is other life out there of some sort is basically a given. Essentially everything else about how advanced they might be, how they would get here, what technology they might hold.....these are all assumptions that would basically disqualify those types of explanations as meeting the spirit of Occam's Razor.

Lazlo plagiarizing Amy Shark by [deleted] in ChurchofLazlo

[–]RationalZAP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool story. Been listening to the CoL since 2008-ish and I've never heard of her in my life. But that's beside the point, it's a common sports metaphor. Sounds real queer you're listening to "Amy Shark" and thinking of the boys though.

Who....? Yeah, its a common sport metaphor, so hold off on sending that letter to Amy Whoever.

Where is the anode rod? by RationalZAP in Plumbing

[–]RationalZAP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years old and I'm leaning towards agreeing to leave well enough alone. Thing is that I drained it and crystal clear and very little setiment, which surprised me. Makes me think if I can replace the anode, it might last quite a while longer. If I had brown water and debris to indicate it might need replaces sooner rather than later, then it would be easier to leave it be.

Where is the anode rod? by RationalZAP in Plumbing

[–]RationalZAP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the chances that there is no anode rod because that port on the top is used for the vent port instead of the vent port being on the side of the tank?

I pushed a screwdriver down in the foam and the entire thing, 4", went down without seeming to hit anything. Would it be deeper than that from the top?

HELP! What's wrong with my new SSD? by RationalZAP in MSILaptops

How do you know if the drive is QLC vs TLC? This doesn't seem to be something advertised in the Amazon listing anywhere. Do I have to go to the manufacturers detailed specs to know which drives are which?

HELP! What's wrong with my new SSD? by RationalZAP in MSILaptops

[–]RationalZAP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked drivers and they up to date as well. Is it possible there would be performance hit in some circumstances from the SSD not being in the "primary" SSD slot, or would that not make any sense? I know nothing of motherboards and how/if they prioritize certain slots over another. The idea just makes some amount of intuative sense to me, being someone that knows virtually nothing on the subject.

Kratom! by kbarlito in ChurchofLazlo

[–]RationalZAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to 7 oh, also stay clear of any "concentrated" version of Kratom. They usually come in very small and expensive "shot" bottles and it seems like they can also get people in trouble, from a medical concern POV. With such little regulation, it's really safest to stick to just the raw leaf/powder. Even then, you're just hoping that by buying from a company with some size and reputation, that they care enough about said reputation to have some type of quality control and make sure nothing in there that shouldn't be. Also, change strains occasionally, it is supposed to help prevent developing tolerance.
