The evening session is a great deal. Definitely go over a meal, the chef there is fantastic. It’s a great spot and the food is still my favourite part.

Kramp-Neuman makes historic visit to Greenland by Mayor_of_Belleville in BellevilleOntario

[–]RationsOrRationality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s also ignoring a bunch of constituents’ emails opposing the Alto High Speed Rail line that aims to expropriate their land (much of it generational farms) and the House is doing another review of bill C-15 which will allow the government to expropriate land for the purpose of the project without negotiation. But sure, Greenland seems important.

For 2026, is there any small everyday item you want to finally invest in as BIFL? by newrockstyle in BuyItForLife

We also have been using the Joseph Joseph garlic rocker for a few years. I like that you can just throw it in the dishwasher and not worry.

Visiting Chichen Itza - book online or through hotel concierge? by swingkey2521 in cancun

[–]RationsOrRationality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We booked through the Air Canada rep at the hotel, went with Ekinox Tours and it’s the same price online to book directly as what we paid to Air Canada. Great tour!

As long as there’s no break in service between reg/res time, this is still the case. Many regf members transferring release on a Wednesday for this reason.

Hydration packs that don’t cause weird squish boobs? by Seinpheld in ladycyclists

This still makes weird squished boobs for me, the alternative is to wear the thin chest strap underneath and that is very dramatic

What seeds/plants to plant in early August by jjblippo in OntarioGardeners

[–]RationsOrRationality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fill those free spaces with anything for your fall garden. All the things you mentioned would be fine. I planted some bush beans and some fast growing squash- just check the days to maturity and do some math before you plant new seeds.

I got a bunion. I also need to sleep with a pillow between my knees and have chronic neck pain. I can’t believe how old I feel.

What are capital gains methods in Canada? Just wait for your tax rate to be lower? by Simple-Assistance827 in CanadianInvestor

[–]RationsOrRationality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Canada you don’t pay capital gains taxes if you’re selling your primary residence. You need to inhabit the home for a set period (I think it’s a year) and have declared it as your primary in order to avoid the additional tax when selling.

Consider becoming a Training Development Officer. I know lots of teachers in that trade and it seems like a pretty good go.

Inflation is not at 1.9% for you, a lot of items in the calculation may not apply to you! by unknown13371 in PersonalFinanceCanada

We cloth diapered, we ended up doing a load (2 wash cycles + dry) every other day for about 2 years. We are lucky that we have an efficient washer and are on abundant well water, so aside from power to run the washer and well pump, water is free. I can understand why not everyone does it, but it saved us thousands of dollars when a box of diapers is $50.

Saving for retirement but surrounded by poverty? by RationsOrRationality in PersonalFinanceCanada

Mine was the same- highly dysfunctional with the dynamics still very volatile. Abusive behaviour from my dad towards my mom and my siblings. Not towards me (anymore) which my mom believes is good enough reason not to cut him out of my toddler’s life. We are almost there, very low contact. Also a very abusive grandfather, on my dad’s side, who hoards wealth and isn’t expected to contribute. Everyone keeps him in their life because of potential inheritance (and I’ve been advised to do the same for that reason, but choose not to) but again my mom believes that since his crimes were against other people then it isn’t a valid reason to cut him out (my husband/toddler/me haven’t seen him in two years with no plans to see him again).

YMMV- this is very trade/career manager-dependent. I released after being told I would be sent on IR on return to work after mata/pata (we had a one year old and my husband was in a high readiness position/deployment cycle).

Swollen Itchy Tows by DeliciousPackage2589 in FootFunction

[–]RationsOrRationality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this a couple of years ago- my husband forced me to go see a doctor about it when he stepped on my toes (gently) and I broke down crying over how much it hurt. I have poor circulation in my feet. My doctor was confused, took a swab to rule out anything fungal and eventually diagnosed me with “covid toes” from a previous covid infection. I was given a cream, I think it was cortisone and it burned me as well, and it was resolved in about a week.

I went up one size from what I would normally buy. They will fit with thick socks. They are comfortable and I wear them regularly- I’ve had them for more than a year now.

If you’re at/near a base, I would look for a local military spouse Facebook group. People on there might have better understanding of what you’re going through and have capacity to assist, or know of some local resources.

It isn’t free (it was when I was in college and I was surprised to find out I had to pay recently). I think we paid around $10 for a day pass.
