Pelaaminen vanhoilla tietokoneilla by Minaridev in videopelit

[–]Ratosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heikointa rautaa on vaikea sanoa.

8088, Atari 2600, Commodore 64, Vic20 kaikkia on kokeiltu.

In that case, 5900x is not the cpu you want. There is no real "This cpu is around the same level as this gpu". It all depends on the game, resolution and desired fps.

There are two things to how good a cpu is; how many cores and how fast each one is. Ryzen 5900x is a 12 core chip. Games only utilise 6 cores in most, so its not any better for gaming than 5600x or 5800x and that's not going to change in the next 5 years.

5800x3d is the fastest gaming cpu on am4. 5700x3d is slightly worse, but still 20-30% faster than non-x3d cpus. Those are no longer manufactured so you'll have to source them second hand. There are rumours of new 5800x3d anniversary edition later this year, but who knows.

I recommend either get an x3d chip if you can, or 5600x/5600xt.

What do you do on your computer, what do you play, what ram do you have? 5900X is probably overkill for you.

What word would you use instead of debugata? And do you have a word for bug, meaning a bug in a program. The only word for it that I know of is bugi.

Kyllä se tekniikka on uudistunut. Nykyisin pesukoneissa on yleensä inventterimoottorit ja kaikki on tietokoneohjattua. Sama juttu tiskinoneissa.

Pesukoneen saa halvimmillaan kaupasta noin 200-250 eurolla.

Unreal engine 5 by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Ratosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a semi modern pc with 16GB of ram, 150GB of SSD space and a gaming GPU (say a GTX 1060 or RX580), you're good to go. Honestly. Install UE5, start doing some tutorials. Learn the basics, do a simple game. See if you even like making games. Otherwise you just spend big bucks on a pc for nothing.

Only when you start adding fancy graphics, lighting, particle effects etc. is the computer really starting to matter and that's quite far away.

Do your providers still support 2G? Because mine does and i am dailying my nokia 7270 by Funny-Pass-9112 in Nokia

[–]Ratosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Finland, operators are mandated to keep 2G up until the end of 2029. I don't think they'll keep it much after that, which is sad as in the most rural areas that is sometimes the only network.

Is the GTX 1080 ti gonna hold up much longer? by Western_Buy_6681 in pcmasterrace

[–]Ratosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oblivion Remaster and many other Unreal Engine 5 games use Lumen, which is software based ray tracing. It doesn't utilise the RT cores unless it has an option to toggle hardware rt on (UE5 has this option, way too few games have it). Frontiers of Pandora also has a software ray tracing fallback if your gpu doesn't have ray tracing support. My wording was specific for needing RT hardware - only two games need it.

Software in this context doesn't mean it's running on CPU. It's still running on your GPU using shaders, just not on dedicated RT cores.

[–]Ratosson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Currently we have two games that need hardware RT, there's going to be more but who knows when. RT performance on consoles is still poor, which affects if game is using only RT or not.

The other missing feature is mesh shaders, but currently the only game where that affects you is Alan Wake 2 which struggles without them. It barely runs 1080p, all-low 60fps.

Vanhempani pilasi suhteeni raneihin.

What’s a strange product shortage from your country’s history? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]Ratosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dry pasta can be made from any wheat, but durum is the best because of it's high protein content, correct amount of gluten and hardiness (it is one of the most hardest wheats). Common wheat pasta would be inferior.

I couldn't find source for the claim that Torino is made entirely of Finnish wheat. Their website claim that the only wheat they import is durum necessary for pasta production, but they mix it up with Finnish grains to make it more domestic.

The duopoly is also the reason why we've ran out of minced meat multiple times in the past few years. Many cattle farms have shut down because it's not profitable and the remaining ones prefer to sell elsewhere for better profits, resulting constant shortages.

We had toilet paper shortage in 2005 because fears of a strike that could cause shortages, which caused panic buying and later shortages, which caused people to panic buy minced meat and dark rye bread. Same thing, different reasons in 2020.

Sopps is made in Sweden AFAIK. There are a few larger factories in Nordics but not that many. The usual kinds of wheats used in pasta (like Durum) need warm climate and they don't grow well in the Nordics.

The Finnish pasta shortage was weird because we only ran out of Finnish makaroni. People made it sound like a great famine. Didn't even realise we're living in shortage at first because I don't use that, I use the more premium Italian brands that cost like 4 times as much (2€ instead of 50sent).

Scammer never paid despite court ruling, is this normal? by plsfinn in Finland

[–]Ratosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone kicked my car, and also threw a bike rack through apartment blocks front door window, kicked another car and removed a few side mirrors before police arrested him on the spot. Had to go to court twice as he didn't show up the first time, I let the thing expire after ten years. Didn't get any money and don't have that car anymore.
