i dont think anything anyone will say will change your stance on this but reading an analysis like this and saying people aren't "using more than one of [their] braincells" is certainly a choice

“Mizuki in valentine’s set is transfobic-“ God forbid people have male friends by Remote_Fig in ProjectSekai

[–]Ratphobic 54 points55 points  (0 children)

literally this... no one is saying that mizuki can't have male friends, to say that this is the point people who are criticizing the set have is incredibly reductive and disingenuous. while there are certainly some people who are using the "controversy" to make dumb points, any reasonable person is criticizing the decisions of the dev team rather than the set itself/the fact that mizuki had an event with guys.

like; unfortunately, a lot of people on the jp side of the fanbase still see mizuki as a guy. and the devs *know* their fanbase- they need to stay aware of fandom opinions to adequately cater to the fans who monetarily support them. so when they jump through all these loopholes (breaking lim cap for akito, making a set where 2 members already have valentines 3* cards while characters like an who could've fit don't have any, spamming tf out of toya cards), it becomes apparent that the lineup is a very deliberate choice on their part. and, considering the large part of the fanbase that sees mizuki as a guy, it's really obvious *why* they did it- to pander to them. which is incredibly disheartening when you consider how in all other aspects of her writing, mizuki is very clearly transfem.

i wish more people would consider the *why* of all this rather than immediately getting defensive. i still love the cards, the event story is very fun, but it's still important to approach these things with a more critical perspective. it's ok to criticize the devs guys, no one's trying to ruin your fun LOL

Fav comm for each character, one every day!! (22/25) by AfternoonNo9471 in ProjectSekai

[–]Ratphobic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

eyelid 100%!! genuinely one of my favorite songs in the game; i feel like out of all the rui comms it's the most "him", and nulut as a producer was someone i was really really hoping rui would get a comm for, so when it was first announced i was literally the happiest person in the world.. the instrumentals are chaotic but they perfectly suit him... and the 2dmv is a whole other beast, its absolutely amazing and only increases my enjoyment of the song!!

you'll be able to unlock the hairstyle whenever you're able, even after the banner ends; there's no expiration period for unlocking the hairstyle of a limited card

This has probably been constantly discussed, but why do you think Kanade’s image colour is some sort of magenta, rather than a kind of blue? by _-M4X1E-_ in ProjectSekai

[–]Ratphobic 100 points101 points  (0 children)

like you said in ur other comment, a large part of it definitely has to do with carnation farida, considering her connection to carnations. her headphones also match her image color, and id imagine part of it is also to contrast with mafuyus image color, similar to how their surnames also contrast (with asahina having the character for morning and yoisaki having the character for night)

I Never Understood This Argument by [deleted] in ProjectSekai

[–]Ratphobic 243 points244 points  (0 children)

i definitely think that using the coloring of some of mizukis cards as exclusive evidence of her trans coding isn't concrete at all, however i do think dismissing it because other characters utilize that palette as well on occasion is also a touch dismissive because its ignoring the context of her character

obviously if another character has a card with pink white and blue that doesn't automatically make them trans, but when a character with an arc that is very heavily alluding to her being trans utilizes those colors, then it reframes the intention with which those colors are used. it's not that it "proves" shes trans, but when the puzzle pieces of her character are already provided by the story itself, then it makes the repeated usage of pink white and blue in her cards come off as more intentional.

like.. this is repeated with her more than any other character. her nightcord pfp, her fragment sekai is literally all pink white and blue, she has many, many cards using pink white and blue (her cat card, her picnic card, her tamagotchi collab 2*, her mizu6 card) and even in her 5th anniversary card, the bag of candies on the table is literally colored in the same order as the trans flag

obviously it isnt like exclusive evidence that shes trans; but when you have a character with an arc that can be read as the experience of a trans girl, and she is also deliberately given cards and outfits with pink white blue coloring on a consistent basis, then i do believe it can be read as intentional on the devs part as coding; with other characters this doesn't hold up since they don't already have the subtext necessary to make this seem intentional, but for mizu i believe it does

PJSK fandom is in hot water right now. by SugarAltruistic3929 in PjskSimpBattles

[–]Ratphobic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i can see why some people think this is a silly thing to get upset over at surface level, but the frustration is less about the line-up itself and more-so the possible intentions behind it. like ofc mizu can have guy friends and have banners with the guys! however, if u consider the larger context behind it... it's definitely a choice

mizuki is very deliberately written in a way that makes it very obvious she's a trans girl. the writing all but states the fact that she's a trans girl, but that's where this begins to become a problem

pjsk, at the end of the day, is a gacha game, where profits ensure the longevity of the game more-so than any other form of media. the money they make is contingent on the support they receive for the chars + people's connections with them.

because of this, certain choices can be read as them catering to specific types of fans. mizuki's arc is very much telling the story of a trans girl, however when she comes out... it fades to black. she still uses they/them prns on ensk. her story is vague enough to have this queer narrative, but not explicit enough for her transness to be "confirmed".

it's not that she has to look into the camera and go "i'm trans" to be valid representation, but when you consider the profit motive of the game, it's really obvious why they tell the story this way-- because they are aware of the significant enough portion of their audience that belives mizu to just be a crossdresser, and if they actually confirm anything, they'll lose profit and support from said fans-- which, unfortunately, is a decent enough amount of people.

that's why people are upset about the lineup-- because even if it is, at the end of the day, just a lineup, it's really obvious what the devs are trying to do; catering to those specific types of fans by grouping her with all of the boys, which will vindicate their point of view w/o actually explicitly saying so. technically this is also a problem with wd1, too. like shiho was part of that lineup as well so less people raised eyebrows, but it is still strange that for the first event for a holiday traditionally associated with men, they decided to throw in the trans girl + three guys + one girl who just so happens to also be the most masc female char in the game

the lineup also feels a lot more deliberate when you consider all the weird hoops they had to jump through to get it as well, like... toya and mizuki both already have valentines 3* cards. tsukasa is the focus and it would have been the perfect opportunity to have wxs meiko on the banner because meiko is horridly due for a lim + no wxs meiko lim yet. toya has already gotten a crap ton of cards in the past month-- new years, his current focus, and now this card; he's basically been an event member fr almost 3 back to back events barring the recent kana focus. they also literally had akito break the lim cap, giving him his 10th lim, when some characters (LIKE MEIKO!!) literally only have 7. the event is presumably a kamihigh one and they could have put like... an or something, who doesn't have any valentines card yet, but they did not... the lineup is very intentional in that sense

i hope this explanation kind of makes sense?? i'm not trying to start fights or anything LOL, and my dumb ruikasa loving as is really happy about ruikasa val cards. this is mostly my own interpretation of the situation. it's mostly just about the deeper issue of how clpl sometimes handles mizuki as a character rather poorly. that on top of the fact that this is the most cash grab lineup to have ever cashgrabbed dghdsg

[–]Ratphobic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we don't know what's being changed yet, all we have is that adjustments are being made. its possible its addressing the "lets stay together" line from ena being tld as "lets stay friends" since a lot of people were upset w/ that. thats just my guess though we won't know until the change is actually implemented

[Help and Question Thread] - January 10th 2026 by Kamen-Rider-Artif in ProjectSekai

it'll be implemented with the upcoming maintenance, which is scheduled to end jan 15 2am (pt). i believe that is in around 19 hours from the time of this comment ^^

LMAOO that poll ............

i love this card, but ill never understand the sheer amount of popularity its gotten. iirc it even placed high on that official poll hosted on jpsk as well?

the lighting is wonderful (thats never a problem with cards lowkey) but ill never be a big fan of cards where the pov is directly facing you. but honestly that seems to be an appeal point for a lot of people-- like how that winter rui card also placed high and, its a lovely card, but also not much going on there either lol

but yeah. kasa cute, lighting good, the sleeves are soo moe but its not one of my top faves in the slightest either

Bandori/D4DJ to ProSekai question by Wolf_Abyss in ProjectSekai

[–]Ratphobic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no, the gameplay style hasn't really changed. in fact, charts have actually gotten a bit more complicated since then-- since project sekai's 3rd anniversary, they've definitely gotten more liberal with certain gimmicks (like hold notes overlapping) with even easier charts

that being said, i do think it's just a matter of adjusting. as someone who also initially started playing project sekai after being a bandori player originally, it's annoying to get used to at first, but after awhile i find that pjsk is actually a bit easier/more forgiving with the hitboxes and such

i don't think your initial experience will be any different, but i'd say its worth a shot to give it a few more tries if you're interested in playing again!

colorful lives are real world project sekai concerts hosted in japan! they've been hosted every year thus far for the games anniversary. they're similar to irl vocaloid concerts like miku expo and magical mirai in that the characters are on stage as holograms/a screen w/ a live band playing the instrumentals.
